Is scary times like you said neither side wants to back down, Biden came out today and said
“We are going to stick with Ukraine, and all of the alliance is going to stick with Ukraine as long as it takes to in fact make sure that they are not defeated… in Ukraine by Russia,” Biden told reporters at a press conference at the NATO summit.”
WTF does that mean ?, I imagine a Doctor Strangelove moment picturing Biden sitting atop a nuclear bomb being dropped screaming, we will never let you win lol
Watched this live, Jacob. You were great! Viva & Barnes consistently do in-depth interviews well worth watching. Of course there are always questions generated by the interviewee’s comments, but there is only so much time in each session, so we’ll wait for more to be revealed at a later date. Thank you.
The Viva Frei video was a big win. You have now established a unique and effective internet persona. Brash, no nonsense, sometimes profane, and no holds barred. I would describe it as a brawler with a big brain. And so, stepping up to the big stage is both an opportunity and a challenge. Remember, the tall grass gets cut first, so watching your six has to be a priority. You may also need to get “robust” with respect to your internet infrastructure. And spend some time thinking about where you want to go with this newfound notoriety and why you’re doing it. At the root, your cause must be sound and goals achievable. Well done.

As for the “apparently” intentional collapse of critical commodity supply chains, the intentionality is in fact entirely real and explicable by the looming financial collapse of the IMF $ystem. If Russia & China leave the $ystem it will become utterly unable to deliver on its promises of (real) wealth to the elites that hold its IOUs. It must (re)gain control of a greater share of resources, both natural and industrial, or go into default.
The $ystem demands it, but the only way it has to gain those resources is to destabilize the current owners, and the best way to do that is to make their resources temporarily worthless by destroying their markets. Putin’s genius, collectively speaking, lies in having so arranged Russia’s commercial & foreign relations that Russia will be able to sell, and that its customers will have the wherewithal to buy whether the $ystem blows up or not. Ironically, their move can now serve only to accelerate the collapse. They were in zugzwang and didn’t even know it.
The $ystem is going down, but its collapse can no longer be managed by schemes like the Great Reset, much less revived on the other side by pipedreams like the 4th Industrial Revolution. Vlad took that off their menu too, and they are pissed. As you said, the struggle is existential for both sides, and on several levels.

There is just one point that you made in a recent video. The claim that the Turks “imported” so many Slavic women that they became less Asian-looking.
I am actually in Antalya, Turkey. I spent 2 years in Ukraine until last September when I came here.
Please forgive me for pointing out the obvious. When a Turkic army comes to Anatolia and defeats a Christian army, it does not mean that all the local peasants suddenly become castrated and their wives raped. Armies in those days were quite small – just think of the logistics before the age of oil. They needed a vast peasantry to support them. The nomads knew almost nothing about farming and they certainly preferred their own lifestyle.
The ancestors of the Turks of today used to be largely Christian Greeks. The Asiatic invaders got absorbed by the great mass of peasantry and townspeople. The original inhabitants were forced to convert to Islam. Most Armenians did not convert. They were useful to the Turks as traders and craftsmen.
The male Slavs who were captured ended up being worked to death on the galleys of the Turks. Their boys were castrated and used for sex. The girls were also used for sex and their pregnancies terminated – a drop or two of vinegar in the right place. Older women were servants.

Hi Jacob. A really great session with Barnes and Viva Frei, congratulations. I liked how they just let you talk and dive into the history and background, including how you got into this subject matter. I also liked how sensitive you were to their questions and were able to pause and address them. Well done! Probably a skill you picked up being a Dad.
I’m an old classically trained singer and have a few concerns about how you use your voice which you don’t want to lose! When you make fun and imitate people the stress is coming off your vocal chords, which is a great sign that your chords are healthy. A speech therapist could give you a couple of tips in one session which could help. I think you are putting too much pressure on your larynx, you could probably speak a bit quieter and just turn the mic up. Vocal chords are ligaments, not muscles, so we have to take care of them or they get strained and easily damaged. Do you breath from your gut? That’s also important to get more air and keep your neck relaxed. We learn to speak from our parents, teachers and friends and pick up their sometimes bad habits. Learning other languages are also a challenge. My mom in law totally wrecked her voice learning to speak Arabic as a young woman. Kids learn without stress, adults try too hard and often get it wrong.

I think you used the expression “banality of evil”, associated with Hannah Arendt’s depiction of Eichmann. It does feel very appropriate. Evil is rarely intentional as an end in itself but an outcome of career and self interest related decisions to go with the flow.
My deepest fear is that you are right in your verdict that neither side has an off ramp; nor can it have one. John Mearsheimer seems to have reached the same conclusion too. Sadly, I can find no counter argument.

Great interview. Thanks. Just couple questions.
Why do everyone call Russia an autocracy because of Putin? Angela Mercel was in power for 16 years and no one calls Germany an autocratic state. Further more, we had another president – Medvedev for 4 years. So all “democratic” conditions are there.
What can we do if opposition offers only one talking point that is to surrender to the West and prey?
And another question: how do you think is it possible that Russia will loose on Ukraine due some idiotic steps by Russian government like unwillingness to communicate with own people or in pursue some unrealistic goals like denazification?
While Putin was democratically elected (most in the west don’t know this), it sounded like the argument for autocracy was that Putin has near absolute power and is mostly the final judge of all decisions in the country. In other nations, the leaders are more limited in what they can do. For example, Biden tried to implement a vak-seen mandate here, but couldn’t because he didn’t have the power. Biden would love to ban fyre arhmz, but he can’t because he doesn’t have the power. In comparison, power is so concentrated in the leader in Russia, it means that changing leaders can potentially cause massive shifts in policy.
That’s how I understood things. I am happy to be corrected.
In terms of how Russia can lose, that would be 3 options I see:
1. Russia goes too far and overextends itself. Perhaps by taking too much territory that includes people that hate Russia and the struggle to suppress these people destabilizes Ukraine and even Russia. Endless instability.
2. Russia doesn’t go far enough. Russia takes some eastern territory of Ukraine, but Western Ukraine rebuilds and starts attacking Russia/Eastern Ukraine again in a few years and all this war was for nothing. Endless war.
3. The west is just too powerful and this is unwinnable conflict for Russia. The west will keep provoking conflict in Ukraine, Kaliningrad, Moldova, Syria, Georgia, etc, and eventually Russia will massively lose a large conflict and it will spiral into Russia losing everything.
Russia must stabilize the regions it wins and prevent the rest of ukraine from rebuilding into a hostile force. Russia must also make sure it doesn’t lose control of other areas of conflict like Georgia, Kaliningrad, and Syria.
If only Justin would step up and step off a tall building!
Why is Ukraine important to the U.S.? Money laundering, child trafficking, bioweapon labs, drug trafficking, adrenochrome harvesting, etc. You name the disgusting illegal activity, that is what the U.S. elites are involved in. Brandon and his son had an estate in Ukraine with many tunnels under it.
You could have mentioned that Ukraine is not unique in being Slavic borderland. The events there are closely mirroring what happened in (Serebian) Krajina, except for Russians being slightly stronger than Serbs.
