As I predicted a few months ago, the GOP win—if there is any win at all, perhaps we’ll know before winter—was NOT going to be a tsunami, not at the Federal level.
In fact, at the Federal level, I said it could be extremely close.
And, other than with loopy Pennsylvania and the machine failures in red precincts in Arizona…..

The party has NO PARTICULAR AGENDA, at least, not on issues that resonate with most people.
(Without a coherent, unified agenda, it just becomes a matter of individual candidates, some of whom have no chance on their own merits. Like, if you’re running an Alpha-dog male against an incumbent woman senator from New Hampshire, LOL, forget it, the swing voters are mostly WOMEN. I could go on, state by state. Now you see why a unified agenda is important?)
They may think they have an agenda, but just complaining about inflation or even crime is no agenda, LOL.
What the hell will they actually do?
Not to mention, leadership matters, charisma matters, and the Congressional GOP has no single leader or brand-carrier at the top that anybody wants to hear or look at.
Even Gingrich 1994… very smart-sounding, cool but aggressive, and all over TV/radio so that everyone knew he was the boss…..

Thus, I said any future (looking from 2021) success, would be more a random accident of circumstances, than something earned or deserved.
More recently, some months ago, I wrote they REALLY need some specific policy ideas to run on.

Yeah, I know, candidates talk a lot, and then, they figure they’ll figure it out once they’re in office.
I mean, why commit to some plan that just raises more questions… especially if you’re slick, dull, and/or lazy?

The soccer moms will just discount it, and vote their feelings on other matters, duh. Today, November 9th, Republican pundits and consultants are waking up to this, admitting it, not in my words but close enough. I first said it probably nine months ago!!! Someone please hire me to run the goddamn RNC or McCarthy’s office, I will come in with a figurative chainsaw, clean house over there. Bunch of blind bozos!!!)

The public is already well-experienced and cynical with respect to “debt ceiling showdowns” and all of that nonsense.
No one wants to see that theater anymore.
It was a flop under Obama (remember “sequestration“?), became ludicrous under Trump.
Republicans would be wise not to pull that drama in lieu of real solutions.
But, there are no solutions.
What to do?
I’d say, now, do what they’ve been doing since last year.
It was a BAD strategy then, it’s the ONLY thing to do, now. Just lay low and stay out of the headlines, to the extent possible.
Let Brandon fumble, keep the attention on him… or his absence and incapacity.

If you want a tangible action that the Republicans could do (if they had any balls) it is to change their leadership. Vote out McConnell and McCarthy and replacement them with genuine leaders, if any exist in either the House or Senate. This would send a clear message to the base that they are serious about changing course. But this will never happen of course.

Speaking as a British citizen that is incredibly disappointed in the political situation in the UK I had hoped that a real opposition existed in the US, an opposition that could stand up to the maiac Biden who seems Hell bent on a global conflict and world war.

GOP “victories” have long been scored on marginal issues of marginal importance to the vast majority of ordinary Americans. For example, abortion and religion. It is laughable when a vicious Republican neocons like Mike Pompeo sends out texts exhorting those at the receiving end to prayer. Nobody can beat Republicans at cynicism.
The country seems to have reached a political and ideological tipping point from which it is unlikely to ever return to the much-touted but really long-defunct conservative values.
There is another angle here – we have two deadlocked class interests. I hate to use the marxist term, but I’m not sure what else to call it. Intra-elite competition is a normal part of governing society. But what happens when neither side has any creditability left with the public? These two groups within the US seem unable to overcome each other. It is very much like Rome at the time of Cesar’s rise, or the dregs of the Jacobians versus the right before Napoleon. Closer to home perhaps – English Parliament versus Charles I. Sorry if that is a melodramatic comparison. While all of the circumstances surrounding these events are a bit different, the general thrust is the same – the governing elite of society become deadlocked and unable to maintain a functional state.
Usually, a third force steps into that void. That’s the part that scares me.

The recent Supreme Court decision regarding Roe– was the most significant event influencing the outcome of this election. One might consider how the plan was carried forth– to energize the tribal instincts of women whose self interest far out paces any concerns with potential nuclear war, a sinking economy of rising inflation, political corruption and so on. One might argue– that whomever orchestrated this Supreme Court decision, that it should take place right before the election– but not too close as to give time for spreading discontent, that perhaps the current balance of the court would be tempted to move in this direction, that perhaps supposed conservative members of the court are in fact minions of Deep State power and so forth– that whomever orchcestrated that outcome, is smarter than the average bear- (Like the cartoon character “Yogi the Bear”.) Whomever set up this plan– when it actually worked–pulled off an amazing manipulation of the political process. Seen as a big win for the fringe elements of the Republican base, it destroyed the dreams of half the country who believe in Naitonalism and kept the Globalist power elites firmly on course to enact their (seemingly diabolical) new world agenda.

I think the most important factor for this election was indifference. The pain of inflation and high gas prices is not severe enough to change the lifestyle significantly of many people. The state giving free sh.t out is always a tranquilizer. And of course Jacob was and is right, what does the GOP really stand for? Not really anything as far as I am concerned, maybe De Santis with his common sense approach is good, but the rest of the Republican party? Nah.
If you watch the elections of the Western nations in the last 20 years closely, you will see many parallels, indifference, slow and steady decline of living standards, corruption in the state administration and political elites being so deep that just a little bit difference in elections is not gonna cut it. People don’t care, unless they freeze and hunger. Unfortunate, but that’s how it is.
Maybe we are lucky, and we don’t experience hyperinflation, maybe it’s just like in Japan with another 20 years of zero growth. More steady decline, but I doubt it, I think hyperinflation will come, and more of the same military adventures. Then a crash, then rebuilding, history rhymes but it doesn’t repeat itself.
As a woman & lifelong registered No Party Affiliation voter (at least until the 2016 primary when I was temporarily a Democrat to vote for Sanders in the primary & then this summer when I reregistered again for the Republican primary), I must respectfully disagree. I think returning the issue of abortion back to the states, where any true libertarian will tell you it belongs, had a minimal impact on the midterms, particularly in comparison with the impact of obvious shenanigans in all the usual suspect states/counties.

As a European who has lived under governments formed out of coalitions of up to seven parties, I don’t understand how come there is not at least one strong third party in the US. I supposed it has to do with the way counting works. If I understand correctly, for instance, it doesn’t matter whether you get one million votes in California, you either win the state or lose it. I suppose the system creates more stability in the long term. Also, pardon my ignorance, but doesn’t the fact that one is forced to register as a democrat/republican makes it impossible to cast a secret vote, as it is supposed to be in the elections of most countries??

I too, read Dreizin’s predictions and didn’t discount them and considered them as I read all the red wave predictions. Look at Brazil, South Africa, India, their Brics-involvement can be literally switched on or off by elections or Elite-behaviour. How does the US claim 7.7% inflation? I do not live in the US, so I am not sure what the prices are like over there. Surely the true inflation is higher than that. Would someone please be so kind and inform how they produced a number so low? The stock market clearly believes this figure to be significant as it has caused a jump. This seems to run contradictory to what is said on the Dreizin report, I am personally still in belief on what is said about inflation on the Dreizin report, it is here to say until interest rates are hiked up a lot more, but some how the number produced is 7.7%. In case you’re not aware, the US changed its formula for calculating inflation in the 1980s and again in the 1990s. There’s an economist who keeps using the old formulas and posts the results at http://www.shadowstats.com/alternate_data/inflation-charts. Those formulas say we’re in Carter-level territory already — and I imagine we’re likely to go higher.

This has been going on for years and will take time to reverse. The first most immediate solution is to target Republican leaning couch potatoes with mail in balloting by painting the Democratic Party as anti-white, anti-family, and pro-fentanyl and pro-cartel. That’s where the big money should go.

There aren’t nearly enough “couch potatoes” on the Republican side to make a big difference. It has been well known for decades that Democrats suffer from “low motivation” among their two most reliable voting blocs (blacks, especially poor blacks, and under-25’s.) It is these blocs that are targeted with ballot harvesting. It is especially lucrative to mine the poor blacks, as they tend to live very compactly; you can just send someone to go around on foot. There are no such unmotivated major demographics available to milk on the Republican side. Yes, there are some rednecks who normally didn’t vote but then came out for Trump, but the numbers aren’t so great, and they are much more spread out geographically.

It’s likely we will see voting by computer if this current direction is allowed to continue.
Since you were kind enough to respond I’ll add that mail in voting must be restricted by insisting on voter-ID, signature verification, and enforcement of illegal ballot harvesting laws. It’s clear that DeSantis has pushed a Florida ballot law similar to that found in France and would have never reached his percentages under an Arizona like system. I fail to understand why Republican spokespeople don’t constantly remind people that paper ballots became the norm in the Netherlands because there were serious concerns of fraud. Europeans are considered by most to be a somewhat liberal and rational people. Why not inform Americans of voting laws in other countries? Very few countries allow mass mail in balloting. Why is that? Instead a media narrative that says restricting mail in ballots is racist is allowed to go largely unchallenged. A California style political system with mass mail in balloting is too easy to corrupt. This must be addressed over and over by Republicans and leadership should not cooperate on anything until this fundamental issue is corrected. Otherwise the U.S. will have a one party political system similar to Mexico that had a PRI party ruling for 70 years. I’m pretty old and I have never been a fan of American politics (loathe both political parties) but what I see coming for young people is going to be much worse without an opposition.

They mail you a token before election day, you then present this token when you show up to vote.
