…..was a headfake.
The U.S. agreed with the Germans…..
…..that the U.S. would announce first…..
…..then Germany would commit to sending its tanks….
…..then the Pentagon would say, oh sorry, our tanks won’t be ready for another year.
And that’s what happened.

According to Politico, even “military officials” are “quietly pushing the Pentagon” to this end…..

Look, not even getting into the logistics… spare parts, maintenance training, etc.

The Ukrainian side has very few trained, combat jet pilots (or any military pilots) left.

So, what did they do?
They resolved to send tanks.

Ukraine “HR” Update
As I explained in my December 15th piece (shame on you, if you missed it!)…..
…..the entire Ukrainian force structure…..
…..including the military, “Territorial Defense” militia, Interior Ministry armed units, border guard, etc……
…..is not much more than 400,000 uniformed personnel.
Smoothed-out over time, on average, per day…..
They lose around 95-100 dead…..
…..as many seriously wounded and in need of multi-month recovery time (or demobilization)…..
…..at least 20 taken prisoner, and some small number of deserters.
I suppose you could add to this, since last month, if not earlier…..
The foreign mercenary flow has been overwhelmingly in a “going home” direction…
Approximately 202,000 Ukrainian men received draft notices in roughly the first 26 days of January.
Of 202,000…..
113,000 did NOT show up—or were not detained and brought—to the draft office…..
…..either because they went into HIDING…..
…..or because their politically significant employer was able to get them OFF THE HOOK…..
…..with a phone call (in some cases, perhaps some cash exchanged)…..
…..to the draft office.
As I explained, would happen. No surprises.
Of the 89,000 who showed up…..
7000 still got off the hook for various reasons.
(Employer called at the last minute… or, rich daddy brought cash… or, serious and obvious health or mental issues were observed.)
Thus, 82,000 were sent to training… at least, “notionally.”
As you can see…..
The proportion of those sent to training…..
…..is just 40.6 percent (!!!) of all who received draft notices.
Although this is MUCH higher than I expected…..
…..it is still ABYSMAL.
If this happened in RUSSIA, it would be all over the MSM.

They must keep their state, internal security, infrastructure, transport, civilian-staffed military repair and logistics…..
…..and what’s left of their military industries…..
…..and export economy (at this point, with the power shortage, just agribusiness) going…..

This should be interesting. The draft notices are still going out.
The Ukraine cannot concentrate this many men at, or even near, its few training facilities…..
…..without inviting thousands of casualties from Russian cruise missile attacks…..

Europe and the UK have never each trained more than a few thousand at one time.
It’s likely most of these guys are hanging out in warehouses, pending disposition.

Russia called up only men with military experience.

…..as men who were drafted by the Ukraine in the period January 1-26, LOL.
Obviously, there are not enough experienced officers to lead this many new soldiers.
There are also likely not enough helmets, protective vests, winter boots, webbing, etc……
…..available IN THE ENTIRE WORLD right now…..
…..for this force to be properly equipped.
Unless the USA was to start raiding its own “live” inventory, IN LARGE VOLUMES…..
But, I haven’t heard of that happening….. yet.
Not even getting into radios and other squad- or platoon-gear (or crew-served weapons.)
Chinese stocks and/or production are likely fully committed to Russia.
You see, Russia got a head start.
It’s already soaked up the spare supply.
It’s clear, there’s no capacity to train and equip these new soldiers MUCH FASTER…..
…..than the existing force is GROUND DOWN.
Unless they want to attack Russia…..
…..with human waves of untrained guys in sneakers, an AK-47, and no gear…..
…..the Ukrainian active force structure CANNOT much expand to match Russia’s mobilization.
(Granted, no one said that’s the plan. Their best hope now, in obvious coordination with the USA/NATO, is to slap together the equivalent of about two new armored brigades, and hope for the best. All the other draftees are just cannon-fodder, if even that.)

You’d think a Senior Research Associate would… do research.

She thinks she knows better than the Pentagon, about the prospects for Abrams tanks in the Ukraine.
A few days ago, she wrote:
Contrary to claims that the Abrams runs only on “jet fuel,” the tank can run on diesel just by swapping out its fuel filter. Maintenance is a challenge, but again, maintenance is an issue for all complex equipment, and Ukraine seems to be doing fine with the other equipment it has received since the war began. The “jet engine” he mentions—the Abrams’ Honeywell turbine engine—is designed to be swapped out, not repaired on-site, meaning its complexity would be a non-issue for Ukrainian maintainers.
Wow, where to start…..
First, the Abrams runs on JP8. “Fuel filter“, Jeeeezzzuss. In my army days, I talked to many tankers, saw the labels on their fuelers. It’s jet fuel.
Some readers have argued it can run on any fuel. One said his Iraq veteran friends used diesel.
Folks, what did the Abrams do in Iraq? Sit at checkpoints. 90 percent of the time, they were just running the AC.
And even then, over the course of that adventure…..
…..about 1000 ruined Abrams power packs (combined engine-transmission sets) had to be evacuated for DEPOT-LEVEL MAINTENANCE, stateside.
If you want high performance, reliability, minimal breakdowns, and “regulation” gas mileage…..
…..for repeated, all-day missions against Russian forces…..
…..you need what the U.S. Army indicates.
Don’t take it from your drinking buddies, or from office plankton at Heritage.
Second, the Ukraine has NOT consistently, reliably fixed ANY NATO country (not Soviet type) weapons platform that it has received.
Damaged Western systems (e.g., the German and Polish mobile guns) have ALMOST ALL been brought OUT OF the Ukraine for repair or scrapping.
And now, the Ukraine has barely got enough electricity to fix its own local (or donated) Soviet / Warsaw Pact stuff.
Third, yes, the Abrams’ massive power pack is not intended for field-level repair, but…..
(1) It still takes training to replace,
(2) It takes the hoist/winch on an M88 “wrecker” vehicle to raise and deposit, whereas the Ukraine’s Soviet wreckers were clearly not intended for this weight, and might not handle it.
(Uncle Sam was thinking about sending the Ukraine some M88’s, but they’d have to send probably at least five per tank battalion of any Western (including German) tanks, whereas the U.S. and all of Europe reportedly only have 800-some available, mostly in the U.S. and mostly in operational units, needed for daily training and repairs. The U.S. has essentially NONE just sitting around in storage.)
(3) It cost $1 million 20 years ago, and would likely cost MANY times that today, as no more are being made, so you’d need to pay super-premium for a special “custom” run. It makes NO sense to just throw these things away in the Ukraine.
(4) Transporting these packs, on a one-off basis, for depot-level maintenance in the USA, would be a drain on staff time and transport resources… when the established practice is that everything gets shipped across the ocean to the Ukraine, and nothing comes back across same ocean.
(5) There’s many other things that can break, besides the power pack… duh. Where did they find this girl?

Reportedly, he’s a Chilean playboy pickup artist, who claims to live (or have lived) in Kharkov, Ukraine.
Reportedly, no one knows what he does for a living.
He disappeared and claimed to have been held by the Ukraine Security Service (SBU) for some days, it was a big deal among Mercouris fans.
Somehow, the SBU had him locked up…..
…..but when they let him go, they didn’t kick him out of the country…..
…..so he remained online, shit-talking the Ukraine while living there.

At least twice a month, they also do periodic livestream sessions with guests… incorporating superchats (a “pay to ask a question” function.)

Rumble is brand new and it does suck, it’s got growing pains. That said I got an account when a few I follow got yeeted off the tube. I have NEVER used it since,it’s terrible I get random emails for videos that are week old, the layots crap, the suggestions suck and so on. Locals on the other hand has been a dream with barnes and rekeita. You can pay wall some stuff and not others. They also have a new news letter/arcticle function which barnes uses to great affect. You also own all the content and I think they only take 10% as long as people don’t buy any subscriptions through google or apple app stores. They have live chat with tips. Only fans seems an odd choice for a political blog/vlog lol but who am i to judge haha. I’ll give ya 10$ a month or whatever if ya start a locals. Yep, there’s something creepy about Gonzalo Lira. Watching him perform on video, dark lighting, dirty curtains, it reminds me of Pennywise the Dancing Clown soliciting kids from a manhole in the street, or Jame Gumb from Silence of the Lambs trying to appear human.
I didn’t like Gonzalo Lira before the disappearance stunt, because he was totally unoriginal and his verbal tics (Hmmmm? Hmmm? ) and scruffy appearance were offputting. If one kept track of events as analyzed by Scott Ritter, Alex Mercouris, the Saker, and others, you could see that Lira was cribbing their material and passing it off as his own.
Then he did the odd disappearing act. Then he reappeared, telling an improbable story. And got even scruffier. I think the disappearance was a publicity stunt—one that seems to have worked, since fairly serious analysts were now taking Lira seriously and giving him space on their platforms. A few times I watched him if he was a guest on another’s show, and he continued unoriginal and unconvincing, except once he did make a slightly original observation, which I duly noted. .
I found it very strange that he had lived in the Ukraine for 10 years and still didn’t speak a word of either Russian or Ukrainian. What kind of incurious, lazy mind is that? Well, the mind of a person who can’t be bothered to wash his face, shave, comb his hair, change his shirt, etc.
Lira is a faker, IMHO. Who knows where he lives. Maybe in Chile, like Whitney Webb.

Gonzalo set off my BS detector from the start (based on intuition), even before his miraculous escape from the SBU.
Reminds me of all the correspondents reporting from Aleppo even though there was no power or internet.
That said, I don’t really mind him, even knowing it’s likely all confabulation.
I remember Lira saying on Duran, on his second appearance, so this was in March, that it was a matter of days until the Russians took Kharkov. lol Also, he often said (with a dismissive tone, I must add) that he didn’t followed or read about military things because he found all that stuff boring and not appealing. Yet, for someone who finds the whole military aspect as “boring”, he has a lot to say about a military conflict. Of course, most of the things he says are stuff he has heard from other people.
I was willing to give him the benefit of doubt about the arrest, at first, simply because I couldn’t believe that the Duran guys would risk their reputation, and therefore had done a background check on him. But his narrative crumbled quickly. What he said wasn’t credible at all. Not only the SBU left him free to go home, and continue to talk shit about Ukraine from his couch, but for some strange reason they wouldn’t let him leave the country? Why? I mean, why would the SBU arrest a foreign citizen, let him free and not kick him out of the country as persona non grata? There are Italian (not only) journalists who have been declared enemies by the Kiev regime just because they were reporting from Donbass region. One of them, Giorgio Bianchi, can’t put a foot in the Ukrainian parts controlled by Kiev because he would get arrested. Yet, Lira can stay in Kharkov and continue to speak against them without problems? Not a chance. I ain’t buying it. Lira likes to present himself as a journalists, but I haven’t seen a single report from him that is worth being considered as such.

Does Locals.com offer a better way for pay walling videos though they are tied to Rumble now. Seems to work for VivaFrei/Duran etc. Robert Barnes seems to think about 10% of the subscribers on a channel become paying subscribers for $5-$10/month.
I’m suspicious of GL as well. His criticisms of Ukraine are very overt and disparaging (rightly or wrongly) and he has a constant flow of very pro-Russian guests on. It is very unusual to do if you are living within a war zone and paranoid state. I lived during the Sierra Leone civil war and when the state was under threat the security services do really dumb shit due to paranoia. Having a tattoo was enough to end your life in a very public and ugly way (usually beheading with blunt machetes). You would be very wary of having private conversations about the progress of the war little own public ones.

Having been an aircraft two engine mechanic in the USAF and at that time the fuel we used in the Jets was the JP4. You can probably in an emergency you could try using diesel to get the Turbine to run. You probably going to get a very low Thrust out of it and literally going to totally screw up everything in the support side of the engine. The key item this wonderful Lady failed to mention is the heart of the performance of any turbine ( Jet Engine ) engine which is actually the Turbine Discs at it’s exhaust. The temperature that can handle determines the actual thrust performance of the engine. The inlet discs configuration can also determine to a certain extent the total thrust performance of the engine. If the maximum exhaust temperature is exceeded that passes thru the Exhaust Turbine disc (s) the possibility of the disc(s) disintegrating become likely. The other delicate part of these engines is the highly complex fuel control system of this turbine and have it work using this fuel for which it has not been designed for. Oh yes how well are all the seals in the fuel system and integrated filters which are not accessible unless you tear down the Fuel Control going to handle this fuel without been degraded and failing and have fuel leaks or just failing to function. I been out of the Aircraft Maintenance Business military and civilian for a good while but it sounds like this lady is been smoking the wrong type of weed or she expects her audience to be a very ignorant bunch.

If so, he can perhaps stay in Ukraine. Also Charkov is partly very pro russian what can help him. On other hand, last year he showed his kitchen making coffee and this kitchen seemed to be a very american kitchen. We in Europe have a little different kitchens. I quite like HistoryLegends and Military Summary channels for some progress that’s not directly ‘western’. I also like watching Indian and Chinese English news channels for some balance against the constant western narrative. It’s amazing how much more you learn about what’s going on in the world when you get some wider perspective. Of course their channels have their biases too which a wise person can see sticking out like a sore thumb, but oddly enough they are far more globally informative, because they tend to spend more time going in depth on a topic and often have people on from around the globe you would never get to see or hear on western legacy news channels.
I’m poor AF at the moment so i cannot afford the $10. My $200 i have left monthly after fixed expenses goes exclusively to food. I understand what budget constraints are so I cannot blame you for doing some camming to get the extra cash.
However, I would humbly suggest that if you do start camming, you publish your videos for free on rumble later, after for example a one week period. That would allow poor people like me to still follow your content (albeit at a delayed time) AND it would allow sharing of your videos on social media.
What about SubStack or Patreon? They have paywalled subscription levels, including free for those who need it. You could make extra content eg videos, Q&A’s and posts of your choice subscriber only. Patreon can be unfriendly but SubStack seem pretty censorship friendly.

What are your thoughts regarding the role Poland is playing in this conflict.
In particular, the idea that by May 2023 Poland will 1. “Sieze” in some form Lviv area and 2. is “next up” in the war against Russia (e.g. NATO continues fighting through them).
I’ve picked up this theory from the (Duran, Ritter, MacGregor, etc) crowd but I am not sure if you have spoken on this. Thank you for your time and hard work
I am no Jacob, but my opinion is that all 3 mentioned, some certainly heavy weight commentators, are fighting last centuries war… the “land grab” Operations style 1919 or 1945 (where you get to keep them and create a new status quo) is a thing of the past. Poland can militarily get presense there but can’t absorb it. And this is known to 99% of the Polish decision makers. Such moves cannot be more than a Pyrian victory in the 21 century environment. Also their assessments about spear head maneuvers of the type the Soviets did in 44 and 45 (like to Odessa) are not based on reality.
I’m not Jacob either, but I have had a wild idea for a while similar to what you are asking about.
I had considered that one possible, if extremely unlikely, resolution to this nightmare is for Russia and Poland to work a backroom deal with Poland taking the far western part of Ukraine. If Russia then extended its area along the rest of the Black Sea coast, Ukraine would end up the “rump state” some speculate that it will, but somewhat smaller, with its west also gone.
I understand that there are some historical precedents for Poland having interest in the west of Ukraine, and this could benefit Russia, too. Despite the “Putin wants to take over Europe” narrative I hear a lot, I think the Russians would prefer to have to do as little as possible with the greater Ukraine area as they can while securing the east and south, and this arrangement would reduce the territory they need to worry about–especially since the western area of Ukraine seems to be the epicenter of anti-Russian sentiment.
I also think there could be creative ways to spin this so that the US gets to claim its victory.
That’s all the time I’ll spend typing about this outlandish idea, unless someone is interested in commenting further.

I too was suspicious about Gonzalo Lira. He just seemed slick and like a BS artist. I saw him on the first video he did with The Duran. That was February of 2022. He was in Kiev on business and staying in a hotel. His wife and family were back in Kharkov. He seemed to be a friend of Alex Christoforou. Lira did show himself walking around in Kiev. His disappearance was odd. His Twitter page has a pinned tweet talking about all the people that the Zelensky regime has disappeared, and said that if he went missing for more than 24 hours, people should assume he was disappeared too. Something like that. We were all worried when he disappeared. Scott Ritter at that time was on Twitter and reported that Lira had been captured by the Kraken unit. Then he reappeared, and is able to be critical of Ukraine on a regular basis. Seems odd. And, he has this irrational hatred of Scott Ritter, which is weird.
He mentioned at times that he had a background in Hollywood. I’m not sure how he ended up in Chile, but I don’t believe he is a native of Chile. Maybe his parents moved there when he was young. But I think he went to Dartmouth or some other Ivy League college. I checked him out on IMDB.com, and he has background info there. That site says “Gonzalo Lira was born on 29 February 1968 in Burbank, California, USA. He is a director and writer, known for Secuestro (2005), Soldier of Fortune (2000) and The Public Space (2018).”
So, he seems legit, but I don’t know how he gets away with broadcasting from Kharkov being critical of Ukraine.
I think as time has passed you’ve either given up or relegated yourself to be a mere sideline pundit rather than a coach if that is not too impolite.
I understand that in America when faced with the satanic deviant forces that are just a few miles down the road it must be difficult to set yourself to the #DeepState traitors.

I don’t know the percentage of Jews in Ukraine, but Dnipro (perhaps the fifth major city in Ukraine) claims the largest Jewish community in Europe. They have a pair of very opulent towers, called Menorah and a large Synagoge there. If you are ever in Dnipro, Menorah is a nice stop, make sure to take the tour up to the roof for nice panoramic views and there is a pretty top notch Kosher restaurant in it.

All can be greatly praised for what they’ve grown and accomplished and continue to accomplish [against the odds, I daresay?], and all can be can be validly criticized for whatever shortcomings they may have [can’t we all?].
I think it would be a fine gesture, however, if the criticism could be positive and constructive, and carping and dogpiling could be avoided.

I have a relative who flies F-16’s for the USAF. When asked about possibly a hot war with Russia he was certain that the USAF would sweep Russia from the skies. The reason is that the USAF and other air assets are used to working operations with hundreds of planes in the sky all under a single coordination. (probably AWACS). According to him, the Russians can’t coordinate anything like that. But they could certainly do a better job then the Ukie Air force. I think giving the Ukes an F16 would be like giving a monkey an AK47. Interestingly when asked about China my relative was not confident.

What do you think would be the military contingency planning in Russia for a situation where the radar screens would be overloaded with hundreds of hostile air targets approaching the border from all directions? Keep in mind that they have no idea if they carry nukes or not. I’m not a military person, but such a force concentration would, in my mind and my own decision tree, would be equal to an existential threat to the nation. Many nukes would be launched in the air towards their targets and the planet would have only 10-20 minutes to withdraw those planes flying over or towards Russia, while the missiles can still be controlled and neutralized by the launcher.

Seems to be a rather strong fixation in the comments section regarding specific fuel requirements for an M1 Abrams but I think the more salient issue relevant to the M1 is the logistics of supplying it’s voracious appetite for fuel along with specific maintenance requirements of keeping them operational. I suspect the specific grade of kerosene/diesel/JP8 is not as critical as some think it may be as I’ve had no trouble finding numerous references to the engine’s “multi-fuel” capability.
WRONG. If it runs just fine on diesel, that’s no problem because the Ukrainian army is swimming in diesel, and there’s no “voracious appetite” problem at all.

A lot of talk here about Gonzalo Lira. I’ll say that I enjoy listening to him. he’s funny, and as much an entertainer as anything else. I like quirkiness and wise guys, which is why I follow this site, and also admit a lot of Lira has to be taken with a grain of salt, as you should with anyone. I thought his “disappearance” was odd, and could he be a Russian agent? Or merely a showman in for the gab and bucks? Don’t know, but I can take him once a week or two. He just had a podcast discussing Biden: the ‘defenestration’ (big, funny word) of Joe Biden: kind of funny, gossipy stuff that we all like; is it real? it could be, because no one knows what the hell is going on with the administration, except we’re sure Biden isn’t calling the shots on anything. Is, as Lira insists, Obama really in charge? Maybe, but I see Obama as merely another, slicker kind of puppet. If the puppets are in charge of the puppets, then we really have a serious problem. Jacob showed a lot of humor putting up the Team America picture.
I listen to Mercouris, but less than I did. To be honest, I prefer the short broadcasts, because there is a looooot of analysis, and I have a life, and don’t want to spend it on the Internet. Jacob has a good analysis, gets to the point, and I think he’s pretty accurate. I consider Col. MacGregor to be the brass’s view, Larry Johnson the field commander, Scott Ritter the eager beaver intel guy, and Jacob the guy in the foxhole. All views have their place and and anyone tells you, a variety of intel is best.
Perhaps an offbeat view I like is Miles Mathis, an artist who argues that Ukraine, Putin, BLM, trans, etc., ALL of it is a merely a cover for the vy-ruz and vakk-seenz, to take our minds off it and not pay attention to their full implications. Re. more sources, the site Stratpol.com and the Stratpol channel on Rumble (Xavier Moreau) gives an unashamedly pro-Russian but measured and I think accurate view. It’s in French. Other than the English-speaking dissidents, the French right seems to be making a strong critique of this war.
The Abrams is a formidable fighting machine, with heavy armor, a powerful gun, high movement speed, advanced electronics. The Abrams tank’s Honeywell AGT1500 engine is also used in Bell AH-1W SuperCobra, Boeing AH-64 Apache, Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk, AgustaWestland EH101/AW101 helicopters. This tank however presents some problems, due to the solution adopted for the propulsion, namely the turbojet.
This type of engine does not start with a starter like any diesel engine, but with a small jet engine (APU). Only after the APU reaches idle speed does the air it compresses begin to spin the tank’s engine compressor to get it started. Therefore, if for some reason the enemy surprises him with the engine of the tank stopped, it takes at least 5 minutes to restart it, during which the tank remains motionless.
The turbojet has 2 axial shafts corresponding to the low pressure turbine on the one hand, and to the high pressure turbine on the other. To operate at maximum speed, the speed of the 2 shafts must be increased to 15,000-20,000 rpm. To balance the speed of the 2 shafts and avoid the appearance of the phenomenon of pumping in the engine, an electronic governor is installed. This regulator is also designed to protect the transmission of the tank from pressure shocks in the turbojet engine. In short, the 65-ton tank does not start and accelerate like a racing car, as the engine idle time is a maximum of 7 seconds.

A couple of thoughts on the M1 and diesel. A modern diesel engine, the internal combustion kind, with electronic fuel injection is pretty finicky about fuel quality. This isn’t like military engines which use the dead simple mechanical fuel injection that’ll run on anything even lightly filter used veg oil will work. Old mechanical fuel injection Benz auto diesel will run on anything, modern ones not so much. My bet is the fuel system in turbine tank motor is at least as picky. It’s not really a problem if using tanks are a bunch of army helicopters because the helicopter maintenance folks are likely making sure the Jet A is clean, water free and up to scratch. So now these things will be operation not just not on Jet A but on diesel if indifferent quality that’s supplied primarily to diesel engines that’ll run on virtually anything. That’s not a good idea. But who knows wonder weapon and all.
Long ago, pre 1990, my impressions was the M1 and A-10 were intended for suicidal the holding action to stave the world from MAD, give the idiots more time to talk and not go boom. The image was of Soviet tanks pouring through the Fulda Gap in some Kurst like tank battle. To me that planning sounded like the interwar navy building battleship for another Jutland. Turns out all that heavy armor of the battleship, slowing them down making them dramatically more expensive and only usefully if they engaged other battleships. It all went to waste because they ultimately became just large shore bombardment barges. I doubt tanks will in any significant way will engage other tanks and they’ll just be used as armored mobile barrels with smaller projectile and shorter range than a M109. But I don’t know anything, other than history just tells me armies buy weapons based on romanized versions of the last war they fought.
Occasionally I watch the guy on ‘War in Ukraine’ YT channel aside from the normal ring around the battlefield he seems to have so interesting comments at beginning of the video of broader themes unlike Dima and DPA/. The one yesterday was about Russian military industrial output. It seemed like Russia was using a huge amount of ordnance last year. I assume they could ramp up production of 152mm shell aside from the huge soviet era stockpiles. Even if a quarter of the artillery shells were still viable in those Cold War piles it was a huge reserve. What he mentioned was though the t-90 production was no problem, and smaller ammunition was no problem producing. Same with Soviet design aircraft and helicopters. They were all safely east enough they’d be difficult to target. The primary plant that manufactured 152mm shells had been sold for real estate development. That problem could be turned around but it would take more than a year. The usage was just more than they expected even with huge reserves. They’re still able to produce more than the NATO just not able to do the 10:1 thing. That’s why some where coming from NK, China on the down low.

Of course I can’t verify where or when it’s actually taken, but anyway that’s him posting the requisite “I’m here in Kharkov” video. For what it’s worth I find Gonzalo a good talker, not an accurate analyst or source. I treat him as tentative, as in may be fake.

He is closing his windows many times because of sirens in the background during videos and roundtables. I read that Australia uses diesel rather than JP8 in their M1’s. It’s also widely supported in the original technical descriptions of the M-1 that the ATG 1500 engine can use diesel fuel (DF-2 in the army’s lexicon). But Australia’s M1’s have no chance of ever being used in combat, and the theoretical use of diesel at the far end of a 6000 mile USA supply chain is just that. Theoretical. The practical consequences in combat for the ATG 1500 and its peripheral equipments are basically not known from US experience. Murphy’s Law argues against using diesel.
It’s interesting that this issue arises at the same time that the Army’s policy is to switch its whole fleet of tactical vehicles to JP8 rather than diesel to simplify the logistics.
Lira is a good guy I watched him for years as coach red pill, those videos were top notch, very helpful. The SBU deal is shady, but he was released right around the time that the Chilean leaders did something nice for Ukraine, plus his disappearance was on first page of CNN Chile. I think they didn’t kill him because it would be a big, bad scandal.
