I have few thoughts on Russia’s pending “Big Offensive”, other than…..
(1) As I’ve written, there will again be something coming from Belarus. At least major diversionary raids, perhaps more.
(2) There is something big coming in northwest Lugansk and east Kharkov, where (no secret) the Ukrainians are stretched very thin, having largely redeployed to other, more intensive sectors.
(3) Some Brit tabloid just predicted another Kursk battle, LOL. The Big Offensive likely won’t be as huge (or hugely transformational) as some of you think. It doesn’t need to be. All Russia really needs to do, is push the front some credible amount, and demonstrate strength in a way that renders ridiculous all further talk of Ukrainian counteroffensives, “taking back Crimea”, etc.
As for the Information War…..
…..one NEVER needed to convince people that Russia is nice.
One ONLY needed to demonstrate…..
…..(hell, the Ukraine does a good enough job of this, on its own)…..
…..that the Ukraine is a LIE.
As borne out in polling (especially in Europe)…..
…..the West has already lost interest in this thing….
…..and the “ideological underpinnings” of support…..

Re offensive: you are correct they are making the case of making it ridiculous to even think of defeating them.
And surely they can launch an offensive and end this in a few weeks (once dominoes start falling it will be very rapid)
But that’s not their first choice.
Their first choice is inevitable and coming overthrow of the current u. Govt. likely a coup. The new gov will not be friendly to current puppeteers and *that* will be the victory Russians are seeking.
Uncle Sam is trying to stop or at least postpone the inevitable with the ongoing “purge” but even they see it’s futile. Hence distractions with the weather balloons. Soon to be followed with a big reveal that the president of the free world is medically unfit for a presidency (or driving a car… or talking)

It seems odd to me that the CCP had the guts to engage in this “major provocation” (as we’re being ceaselessly told) of the US given the azz-whuppin’ their pal Putin is supposed to be taking in the Ukraine. You’d think they’d be crawling on their bellies begging the US for forgiveness of their past misdeeds before they’re next.
But then consistency has hardly been a necessary characteristic of the Narrative.
It was amazing how the US ultimately was able to bury the disastrous loss in Afghanistan so quickly. This one will not be so easy to hide. The USA has been trying to “fix” Ukrainian corruption since 2014, with literally zero result. As if they’re going to achieve something genuine, now? When they are throwing at the Ukraine, $$$ multiples of what they threw before, and with less oversight than ever? Most likely, what’s going on now, is not suddenly the USA waking up to corruption, it’s just a power grab (as you say, getting rid of figures closer to the UK) under the guise of fighting corruption. Jacob, thank you for the blog! You are correct in assuming that the USA has no way of doing a man-to-man fight like it is happening in Ukraine now. The USA cannot send an army of millions of young men into the fire who are not needed anywhere at home as second or even fourth sons because they do not exist. The so-called “Youth Bulge” leads to the conclusion that urban warfare remains completely impracticable, therefore troops in Ukraine from the USA are completely excluded, because the parents would all stand in front of the White House immediately. For this reason, in addition to the information war, the man-to-man war has also been won and all arms deliveries are just a covert game to hide the truth.
There has been some debate going on in Germany recently on whether forced military service and conscription should be reinstated. Surprisingly, a German blogger I read, who’s based in Moscow and supports Russia (Thomas Röper) is all for it. His point is: it will be much harder to make the German public opinion support a proxy war against Russia -or anyone else- if voters knew they sons -and even daughters- could be killed in the next conflict, not just some paid professional soldiers most people don’t care about (especially in Europe, especially the Globohomo greens, who equal professional soldiers to right-wing expendables). Would the US itself have been able to engage in so many conflicts throughout the years were not for the professionalisation of its army? I don’t think so.
One of the craziest aspects of this war is how the public opinion changed, in a matter of weeks, from being in favor of losing all their freedoms in order, supposedly, to save the elderly, and yet the same people seem all willing to sacrifice the young in order to maintain their supposed freedoms. How is it possible their brains don’t implode??

I am in my 70(s) and I am grateful that some of these bastards and their political decedents that got so many of my brothers ( Generation ) killed wounded or dissolution in Viet Nam have finally taken a step to Far and hopefully finally fall over the cliff of been irrelevant. So many tears orphans life destroyed drugs and lost hope. But as Ben Franklin observed during the constitutional convention when he commented on the Sun edged on the back of the chair after all the work they had done. Paraphrasing is it a sun set or is it a sun rise for this newly created nation. I hope and pray before I go meet my Maker that I see this great Nation be a Sun rise of hope and a promise to all it’s people a path of opportunity and peace. That all these Warmongers have to depart this land or face the full wrath and repudiation of the American People. What do you make of the latest purges in Ukraine? I think it makes it seem unlikely a peace settlement can be reached and that Russia will have “to go all the way” eventually escalating further and taking more of the country.

Thank you for that. Life is indeed strange. The thing that has really stuck in my mind in this war is the old lady, who had survived the fighting in Mariupol in a cellar, telling a rare journalist in Mariupol – “when I heard the soldiers shouting ‘Allah Akbar’ I knew we were saved”.

Yesterday, a Locals site that I follow (The Gaggle) did a really interesting video on the 1997 exchange of letters between diplomat and historian George F. Kennan and then-Deputy Secretary of State Strobe Talbott on the issues of NATO expansion and NATO’s meddling in Ukraine. I was not familiar with George Kennan ( a past ambassador to Russia), but in the course of the video, Kennan had spoken about the LIE of Ukraine, since 1948, the fact that there really is no such thing as a ‘Ukrainian’ historically, etc. I don’t know if The Gaggle will put this video up on YT….I hope they do, as it was a real eye opener…..

Talbott was the Dept. Secy of State under Clinton, professing how NATO was ‘defensive’ while they were offensively going into Yugoslavia, etc. The arrogant word salad is much the same as our State Dept spews today.
There was also a discussion yesterday about the news that Germany would be sending 14 Leopard 2 tanks and 88 Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine. The discussion was about why these EXACT numbers had been chosen by Germany, as 14/88 is quite indicative of Nah Zee allegiance. Interesting.

Fine words again. Even uplifting. But how much are they mere wishful thinking? Not so much for the Russians. They set out late in the 1990s to take care of their own. Yeltsin handoff to Putin and the subsequent sanctions driven crusade toward self-sustainability. But the Davos crowd and their legions of bureaucratic minions ruling over all walks of western world life are ubiquitous and even ruthless if not following dictates’ means personal hell on earth for each of them. Whence cometh the White Knights to slay such dragons?
There is something admirable in watching a country like Russia that has endured her fair share of sorrows, afflictions and collapse pull herself up to once again go after evil. Once your eyes are open it is impossible to close them. I am just glad that people like you still have a voice, even if it is a small voice, share your knowledge, courage and conviction for the truth.
So Russia will “win”, in terms of making it beyond blindingly obvious that Ukraine no longer can carry on.
A lot of people thought that was a fait accompli since the beginning.
So why did Russia not start out with more troops in the beginning? Why did they not cut electricity transmission lines right away? Why did they not put more aircraft in sooner?
I wonder, was it intentional all along from the Russian side to drag this out? Or could this be coordinated at an even higher level, where shadowy cross-national power structures manouver to play the theatre a certain way, for their own ends?
Russia did not start with full force at the beginning because she was hoping to force Zelensky’s regime to negotiate a political solution. This is what Jacob means when he writes that Russia did not want this. Did not want it to turn into a full-blown military confrontation. The US/NATO and EU made sure the conflict escalates

I don’t believe in “Lone Gunman” or “Magic Bullet”; don’t believe Sirhan did RFK, or Ray did MLK; don’t believe Clinton didn’t inhale and knew nothing about cocaine cowboys in AR; don’t believe 19 guys with box cutters destroyed 3 skyscrapers; don’t believe Obama let Unca’ Joe do all the dirty work; and I don’t believe people of the west know much of anything about USSR and Ukrainian history.

Clearly Putin has a lot of work to do to get onto the list of History’s All-Time Great Villains.
Therefore, there is no need to argue his precise merits or demerits to know that it is useful to have him around leading Russia as a counterbalance to US hegemony.
The same can be said for the Chinese government (although I personally assign them more demerits than I do Putin).
Having a world with several powerful hegemons gives room for other, less powerful countries to fly under the radar and offer a variety of options of places to live to suit one’s individual tastes. It also helps keep the hegemons from getting too extreme as the they seek to form coalitions with the lesser powers.

I have been having some discussions with Russians in the U.S. (I am an American who learned Russian the hard way) this past week. They asked me what is going on in the Ukraine; I told them and one (my wife) said I sounded like a “Putinist.”
I reminded them of how people in the northern US see Trump as the devil. They were doing the same thing with Putin. Basically, westernized Russians are orange man bad in drag.
My way of looking at things is that leaders do some good things and some bad things. The really stupid leaders…well. Putin and Trump I look at as leaders. I don’t find either appealing, but would take either one over the batshit crazies we have had foisted upon us.
Reality has taken a vacation from the west. It will get its poshoshchino pretty soon, though.

Its hard for me to understand how people who are so wrong about everything, get schooled, retreat for a day, and come back on another topic that effects everybody screaming that we should listen again to what they say, then it repeats again. These people need to be silenced, perhaps mouth sowed shut, or go medieval like a missing tongue. Nothing will change, here is why. What you learn as a child usually stays with you for life, only critical free thinkers can wake and change their minds on their own. If your a male- you hit puberty and try things your way until it doesn’t work, then you revert back to what you were taught, the indoctrination. It will take 2-3 generations starting right now to be able to get back on track. That is to root out the BS and have solid STEM classes, without the metal detectors, and rent a cops. The volk do not understand what is happening to them as they stick their head in the magical phone with facebook, twitter, line and receive the 6 o’clock gov approved messages. These fighters in Ukraine are just suiciding themselves, canon fodder and the ones who benefit are not going to get homeland #2, but they still win as its a brother war and more money will be flying around. Almost like a third party has instigated a death match where in his view, both farm animals on each side get slaughtered.
Why is it so hard to see that guy behind the curtain. Maybe we should all be like Boxer in animal farm. Work will solve everything. /s

Always love your posts. I don’t see the American government having a problem domestically with the Ukraine r us narrative going south. They are ready to pivot to a proxy war with China whether Taiwan wants it or not.
I grew up during the Vietnam War and as a teenager I was amazed at how little thought Americans put into that war unless they had a kid there. The war was more like an early reality TV show that peaked then ran a few seasons too long.
The vast majority haven’t changed. They just think by posting memes on Facebook or tweeting something that they really understand the issues. For all the cynicism of the media, their narratives still shape the worldview of the managerial class and most of the masses. Only people of pale color people to the right of the divide rebel against them after first being suckered into believing the current thing.
Internationally the sanctions and the collapse of Ukraine after the Afghanistan fiasco will hasten the rise of the multipolar world but that will take longer than the dissident right hopes it will.

America might not be interested in entering Ukraine militarily, but Poland is another matter altogether.
