I just listened to the podcast. It’s great that federal employees still enjoy freedom of speech in the US but I think it’s no different in most EU countries. In Germany and Spain, the two places I’m more familiar with, civil servants are pretty much undismissible, no matter what they do –or fail to do. In Germany, in particular, they don’t even have to pay taxes directed toward unemployment benefits –which are, otherwise very high– because it is assumed they will NEVER lose their job. (Funny fact: civil servants working directly for the EU don’t get ANY taxes deducted from their salaries, because, technically, they don’t work for any particular country. But that’s another story…) So, if government employees in Europe don’t speak up more often, it is in part because they’re cowards but mainly because they all buy the “Europe is the Garden of Eden” narrative. I like your perspectives but one thing I’ve noticed is you complain about inflation (not making money on rentals) on prior posts but then say the federal government’s spending doesn’t cause inflation. As they say “inflation is taxation without representation”. Just wanted to point out this dissonance.
Hello! Thanks for being a longtime reader. I did not say Fed spending never causes inflation. It doesn’t cause DISRUPTIVE inflation until/unless it causes disruptive inflation. The USA can “export” its inflation (soaking the world in dollars, using all of humanity as a dampener) until the “money printing” becomes ludicrous, AT THE SAME TIME AS domestic and global production falls off a cliff, as in 2020-2021. At that point, the soaking is complete, that is, not just domestic but GLOBAL dollar demand, falls below supply, and thus the equilibrium dollar “price” (the money’s value relative to real things), i.e. where supply meets demand, falls sharply… and we call that high inflation. We’ve lived through this and seen it, I don’t need to prove anything. Millions of us wondered, what would it take for the profligate USA to finally, FIIIIIINALLY experience sharp inflation? And it finally happened… and we know the PRECISE conditions under which it happened. A live, real-life economics lesson. AND, we can assume, that while prices may keep rising, there won’t be another huge, sudden “leg up” to inflation, without a repeat of the financial and economic circumstances of 2020-2021.
PS: As a landlord, I most certainly do not complain about RENT inflation!

The China trolling Norad angle is a misstep, it’s like the DNC hack or Russian election interference.
What are the facts? A balloon may have minimal navigation (up/down updrafts/downdrafts jettison gas/ballast) b/c it’s a huge sail with minimal power sources. So they travel with the wind. This particular balloon was carried way off course by an unusual (and unpredictable) deviation of the jet stream, leaking air from the arctic vortex down into the continental US, responsible for the cold snap in New England. Being carried south over the entire length of British Columbia is very unusual. No evidence has emerged that the path deviates from prevailing winds. Normally, it would have drifted over the Arctic.
Any research balloon is going to have equipment that can be construed as dual user military/civil; We do know it is Chinese, since they have said as much. I think the Chinese would have steered clear of the US if they could have (balloon is huge; not sneaky), so it is an accident.
The rest (shooting down a car-sized object imperiling the busy Alaska-Siberia air corridor — Santa’s Sleigh in other words) is all made up, a sorry attempt at ginning up the Chinese threat.
Hello, we can see the west’s attitude to Ukraine is starting to change. I saw general Milley say it will end in negotiations and a draw. I thought has anyone asked the Russians about that? It seems to me if the Russians don’t take all/most of Ukraine, will they be setting themselves up for a second Ukraine war, with a better-prepared west at some point in the future? Just listened to you on Coffee and a Mike talking about the balloon “situation”. About five minutes later I read on RT how one of the balloons shot down was likely sent up by some balloon hobby group in Illinois and had already made about six laps around the globe when NORAD finally detected it after making “radar adjustments”. The balloon cost between $12 and $200; the missile to shoot it down runs around $472,000. That’s some serious asymmetry!

I’d agree with Mercouris take downs were in poor taste. I think he has taken offense to them because he always went out of his way to give you credit and you were a big source for him. I think they felt they had given you a platform and that is how YouTube works. Mercouris pretty much stopped mentioning me over six months ago, after I sharply shifted away from near-daily war coverage, and told people that the most important thing in the world now is the vakseen tragedy and what it’s doing to the evolution of the korona, also around the same time getting demonetized on Youtube. After that, Mercouris couldn’t be associated with me any more, not even indirectly, and in fact, I never heard from him or his wingman after going on his show in early June.
