December 6, 2025: The Zelensky story has become the timeless “But he’s OUR son of a bitch” cliché. Everyone knows it, but few are openly honest about it, and no one (outside of the fringe) will point-blank accuse the man himself, let alone, compare his constructed country to South Vietnam. It is just one more Overton Window to pass through, on our way to moving on from this disaster and destroying yet some other country (which might even be our own.) Well, what will ever change? Nothing! Americans were stupid, Americans are stupid, Americans will be stupid.
About the recent YooKrayne corruption news, including the very latest from the New York Times about how Zelensky stealthily took control of the boards of state enterprises which were supposed to be quasi-independent (hence, the Energoatom scandal)…..
You will learn more here, from me, about the YooKrayne situation (and its historical context), than you ever did in reading or watching the Anglo-American media.
When the USA took over the YooKrayne in 2014, running the place “Iraq 2000s style” was out of the question.
For one, it would have given Russia a globally-legitimate reason to all-out invade much sooner, and for another, it would not have supported the window-dressing of “democracy.”
So, for years, the YooKrayne was run by proxy, with nominations to all critical posts (in state security/military and finance) being run through the U.S. Embassy, Kiev.
Likewise, YooKraynian officials could be fired by the U.S. Embassy, as happened with the “untouchable” (sort of a J. Edgar Hoover character) Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, who had come in with the 2014 revolution and outlasted everyone else who had taken a top national post that year… and who, in 2021, “mysteriously” resigned (and then permanently left the country) just three days after coming to the U.S. Embassy for a meeting to discuss an incident in which some of his personnel had engaged in a gunfight with the YooKraynian National Guard.
HOWEVER, that was not quite enough.
The U.S. Embassy could make decisions and play arbiter in YooKraynian elite conflicts, but the U.S. Embassy was not a financial authority or an auditor.
The USA wanted to be more confident that its money (miliary aid, IMF, World Bank, whatever) was not being stolen.
Initially, the USA appointed its own carpetbagger—a U.S. diplomat of YooKraynian descent (probably a dual-citizen)—as YooKraynian finance minister. She held that post for 14 months.
Late in her term, the YooKrayne’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) was stood up and began operations. This is an auditing-investigative body, independent of the YooKraynian Presidency, which talks directly to the Americans.
Basically, the NABU is the USA’s “Office of Inspector General” in the YooKrayne.
A few months ago, Zelensky got into a fight with these people, and arrested some of them, and put the arrests on his propaganda TV… But he was slammed by the Trump Administration AND the Euros, and had to back down.
Well, today and for quite some time already…..
The conundrum of U.S. “governance” of the YooKrayne is that the monster is still being fed, BUT it has jumped its chain.
Zelensky now calls his own shots, and goes to Europe when he doesn’t like what he hears from the Trumpers, and has several times called Trump’s amateurish “I’m going to cut you off if you don’t make a deal” bluff.
And, with Zelensky’s crackdown on the Orthodox Church and his cancelling of the YooKrayne’s 2024 presidential election (he didn’t want to run against his popular general whom he fired)… and the roaming press-gangs… and the only semi-rebranded Azov fascists still collecting a paycheck… and people being arrested for just listening to Russian music in their cars, among other authoritarian or chauvinist antics…..
He also makes the U.S. Hegemonic Bloc look RIDICULOUS to the rest of the world, as if we have learned nothing and we are backing another South Vietnamese dictatorship—WHICH WE ARE!!!
(This is not even getting into what the U.S. Hegemonic Bloc has done to peel off or undercut Russia’s partners or potential friends, to include, crudely threatening India (even before Trump) and China, shutting down “democracy” in Romania, etc. It is obvious that the YooKrayne war has polarized (again, mostly against the USA) the world literally the same as Vietnam did. It is much, much worse than the Iraq adventure, as that was understood to be the work of only one wacked-out ruling clique (certainly not “the Establishment.”)
Of course, even among the Democrats, and the Eurocrats, everyone knows that Zelensky cannot be clean when everyone around him (including longtime close friends and/or business partners serving as his closest aides and liaisons) is dirty, and everywhere around him is corruption.
(EVEN IF he is not dipping in himself, he tolerates and encourages it, because that’s how his machine stays lubricated.)
Ultimately, it is the same old story.
Zelensky is dirty, authoritarian garbage, literally more toxic (on his own scale and level) and FAR worse for his own people than the “Russian Hitler” whom we put him up against…..
BUT he is doing the job, and we can’t replace him now, because his country would collapse, and Goddamn it, we’re not going to lose this war!!! (And of course, not losing the war has become more important than “democracy”, which you don’t hear about any more, do you now?)
It’s like how the USA made heroes of the proto-Taliban, not merely arming them but also bringing them to the White House to sit and pose with President Reagan, and even portraying them nicely in a James Bond film (“The Living Daylights.”)
Ask the NYC Twin Towers office workers how that worked out!
How did it work out with Saddam Hussein? You know, he was a good guy, he got billions of dollars in U.S. loans and loan guarantees EVEN AS he destroyed a Kurdish town with nerve gas, and ultimately used some of Uncle Sam’s money to pay for armored vehicles and other hardware that he rolled into Kuwait in 1990.
Look, it’s always all the same shit. Nothing changes.
What’s the point of trying to argue or convince anybody about anything? They will agree with you about Vietnam, the Mujahedeen, Hussein, whoever, yeah, it was a mistake, we learned from it, blah blah…..
…..but they will still cheer their current hero, Zelensky!
For as long as the USA has a big role in the world, nothing will ever change.
Americans were stupid, Americans are stupid, Americans will be stupid.
So, how will it end with the YooKrayne?
My “educated hunch” since early 2022:
For the USA, again, very poorly.
Perhaps even more poorly than any or all of the prior adventures and “mistakes.”

Thanks for the update Jacob, I was starting to get a slight case of withdrawals. I doubt this will happen, because Americans are and will be stupid, but I hope your Yookrayne comments above get some traction in the media &/or the public, so they can maybe get a glimpse of reality for once, and maybe realize Ukraine will, indeed, end badly. A guy can dream.
