- How did the Azov come about?
- Why were they never a part of the Ukrainian army?
- Why are almost all of them bearded?
- What is their place in history?
- What is the significance of their downfall?
- And everything else you ever wanted to know about the Azov!
Everything you ever wanted to know about the Azov
(CORRECTION: The 2S9 “NONA” carries a built-in heavy mortar, not a 30mm cannon. 30mm is not even “artillery”, I misspoke on that count.)
Other than me needing a better mike, what do you think of this video? Do you have any suggestions for the topic of a future video? Please give me some ideas. Leave a comment, below.

Can u please make a video about the military spending now in this war by russia and ukrainne?
Brilliant work! Thank you very much. I am not so worried about the visuals, I like the feeling that I am watching a video made for me by a mate – but you should follow the advice that resonates with you. I would just encourage you speak a little bit slower, then I would be able to get the density of what you have to say by listening once, rather than going back because I missed things.
I love the intro music. Gives me a House of Cards eerie vibe much like what we’re living through. Thanks for your great work. So happy Barnes and The Duran introduced me to you.
Hi
Did you notice no emblems at all ? nor Azof, nor Ukranian, no Yellow/Blue …
Watching from New Zealand.
1. Many thanks for your informative and entertaining site. (By entertaining I mean that you have a style that makes it interesting to follow)
2. Have you done any work on what may happen regarding China? Me, being slightly parochial, am extremely concerned that we might walk blindly into a conflict with our biggest trading partner, China.
Our government has completely signed up to the war in Ukraine, though interestingly I doubt that more than one in a hundred are aware of it. We don’t even have Ukraine flags – I have yet to see a single one.
If we start even trying to spar with China then our economy will be toast. Yet there is no discussion about Ukraine, let alone China.
Our media is completely fair and balanced. It doesn’t even edit the stuff coming directly from the Ukraine government, Washington or London. But it is at best a number 3 story.
Regards,
John Rothery (Tauranga)
Great Job. Keep it up. One of the saddest part of all of this the fact that Jews in the Ukraine have funded part of this nightmare. People can not believe it. Even Zelensky with family that were killed in the massive killing conducted by the NAZIs including the Ukrainian on the side of Germany. My answer to them is that why do you think been jewfish stops you from ben part of this mess. Corruption has no ethnic boundaries and money has no loyalty to anyone.
Yes, the Ukr nazis will take (and have taken) a paycheck from anyone, Jewish persons, whoever, they don’t care. I assume their thinking is, “gotta pay the bills now, but we’ll kill these subhumans after we’re done with Russia.” Pragmatic! Haha.
There is a Link to a Film about the “Stay behind army” also “Gladio”.
Reinhard Gehlen, Gestapo Chief, was hired by US-GB intelligence to build anti commnist armies in Europe. The largest group, after the Italians, was in Ukraine.
Great report, thank you !
My comment is that Ukraine leadership , did not managed their country, and that’s why they are one of the poorest country in Europe. They needed to make deal with Russia first and then with rest of world.
Great report, thank you immensely!
It is really interesting as the topic of ukraine war, nato and evil putin that supposedly genocides ukrainians because he is just crazy man like that comes up and you say, you do know that example azov are openly proud nazis or at least nazi sympathizers, right. And you get a response at least in here of, what are you on about, it is putins propaganda. And for me at least it is impossible to continue the talk after that. Because it is like we simply live in different realities. If i say up it is down for them. If they say left it actually means right and so on. So i have decided to not talk about the topic at all and just see where the chips land at the end of the day.
Concerning the quality of your videos, Jacob, they are absolutely fantastic. I wouldn’t waste any TIME, money or energy trying to make them more professional…certainly not by hanging any sort of curtain or backdrop over your shelves! The videos have a quality of authenticity and credibility, of being made by someone who puts the priority on WHAT he’s got to communicate…it’s like being at headquarters or the scene of the action. Alexander Mercouris also looks down rather than directly into the camera for his videos, and no one complains over there. OK, you might put a shield on your microphone, but other than that, save your time for your research and just keep doing what you’re doing the way you’re doing it.
DARN! That pesky Geneva convention…
Due to Pentagon (?) Howitzers have reached Donbass for service. How can they even get there considering russian surveillance and bombed routes?
What if China,Russia and other asian countries sign a “nato” asian treaty / as a bigger csto .Or if Russia sells some hypersonic missiles to China and India, end game to globalists ? What’s going on Khazakstan ? it seems we are looking at a race between neocons/globalistes and Russia/New repunlicans/Trump/Musk. Kind Regards from Luxembourg
“Why are almost all of them bearded” Maybe they didn’t shave for the last two months
They were bearded for years. In their promo shots etc. etc.
Hello Jacob. thanks for your accurate analysis.
Thanks for your detailed reports. A small suggestion: look at the camera.
This is the first time I’ve heard the background as to how the Bandera Nazi group managed to infiltrate the power structures in a parallel structure, the condition of the army/national guard. You did a great job of making it all make sense. Thanks.
Thanks for your succinct, insightful comments. You explain stuff in 20 minutes or so, while others ramble on for an hour.
Paraphrasing, conventional wisdom has been that the best Ukrainian forces are all in the Donbass and when surrounded/defeated it’s game over for the Ukrainians. However it seems that many soldiers killed/captured in the area are middle aged conscripts etc.
How probable is it that many of the best forces have now been replaced by conscripts as cannon fodder in the Donbass and the best redeployed to form a defense line somewhere to the west? Or perhaps redeployed to defend the Odessa area which perhaps is very important to Russia both culturally and geopolitically?
MIKE – move it a bit to the side, don’t speak directly into it.
Why Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet? Did you consider Tchaikovsky’s 1812 overture? I like your pick though.
Good video, didn’t know most of that, very interesting.
In particular, thanks for presenting it in such a no-nonsense way. Ukranian/western sources contain too many emotional bs.
Thanks Jacob! Today I was trying to explain to my Israeli Physiologist what the Azov Battalion was and I think you do a lot better job! He never heard of them or Stepan Bandera. He seems in disbelief they have Nazis in Ukraine, and I guess he gets his news from MSM, so thanks for explaining the whole phenomena. Because of the whole Zelensky thing and his being a Jew, this caused him doubts they could have Nazis there.
Some strange new spiritual thing is going on with the Jews. The richest Jewish guy in Ukraine starts a Nazi army and the Nazi spirit sweeps the country and starts a civil war but not a single Hebrew Christian organization speaks the truth about it. Chosen People does not care, some at Jews for Jesus are concerned but they are not top leadership although they are in country, the Joshua Fund does not even answer emails about it. They are all fundraising off of “Stand with Ukraine”. What’s more, next to Hitler, nobody in history has looked more like the antichrist than Zelensky. The White House issued coins naming him “Leader of the World” and “Leader of Peace”, titles from Rev.13:7-8 and Dan.8:25 respectively. God points a finger right at Zelensky in Luke 14:31-32. Strange times indeed.
Thanks Jacob for the concise and sober reports. My one comment here would be, What is to stop the more sensitive elements of this force ( Bearing in mind a lot of speculation over the last month as to who or what is so important down there) that has been holed up in there from secretly remaining behind ( The remaining food stock though small, being all theirs) and waiting it out till all calms down at that site and focus by the remaining Russian Forces has dwindled. Rather like a scheming bank robber who sneaks unseen and hides in the boot of a parked car in plain sight near bye with supply of food and water until things at the crime scene have returned to normal and attending police personnel long deployed onto other tasks.
https://youtu.be/MXgli7TpINw
I found that online ….seems like Zelensky aint all that much of a saint
Good informative video, I think you are sitting too close to the mic making the sound quality uneven. As for future topics, I’d like to hear about Putin’s Russia. The history of it, the different factions and important players in it. And what you think will come after Putin finally steps down, whenever he does.
Hello Jacob,
Thanks for this. Confirms much of what I have come across. The addition of your historical context to Azov’s birth and integration into Ukraine’s security forces is excellent. After all, context is (almost) everything. I also believe it was similar elements (they may not have been officially ‘Azov’ at the time) that made their way down to Odessa during the Maidan coup and were the principal participants in burning 39 protesters (who rejected the coup results) alive in the trade union building. As others tried to escape they were beaten and/or killed. A university of Ottawa professor has done excellent work on the coup and the actions of the plotters and their minions. His name is Professor Ivan Katchanovski. His work on the sniper fire has been universally ignored by the western mainstream press. Here is one link. https://consortiumnews.com/2019/04/22/the-buried-maidan-massacre-and-its-misrepresentation-by-the-west/
Looking forward to your next video.
Hi Jacob. I have been watching your stuff for a while now and really enjoying it. Thank you. It offers a perspective unavailable in mainstream media channels. I am a tv Producer / Director based in SG. If you would like some guidance on how to improve your on screen presentation and technical advice that will improve the overall quality of your show I would be happy to help you out free of charge. It wouldn’t take much for you to improve the overall quality of your product. Both you and the Duran are excellent. Thanks for all the hard work.
Mr. Dreizen, thank you for providing information and news on the Ukraine tragedy that allows us to have a more realistic understanding of whats happening in the east of the Ukraine. Until recently I was thinking that Russia was adopting a smart approach to the conflict by using its extensive air, artillery and rocket capabilities combined with a relatively small ground force to conduct a limited military campaign in the East of the country. The Ukrainians have proven to be a tough adversary although their loss of men and materiel have been quite high. However the sheer scale of arms shipments and money from the USA and Europe must begin to have an impact on Ukrainian military capabilities. I read that some of this new equipment is beginning to show up in the conflict zone. How do you think the Russian military will deal with this situation (arns transfer to the conflict zone) and do you think the Russian military is capable of turning the tables on the USA/RAND corporation and bleeding the USA/EU/NATO dry in the Ukraine ?
Great breakdown. Keep doing what you’re doing. Heard about you on Viva Frei and Barnes and The Duran on Locals. cheers
Awesome piece- especially linking it to the SS, as highly ideological political arm of the government. Let’s not forget, SS started as a modest ( in numbers) force. I bet there will be a new postage stamp issued, a movie, and other hoopla. I agree that Russia is doing Ukrainians a favor.
Am I being dense, or is there no way to get to the previous page of comments…?
Dang. You’re right. Hold on.
Good video. Very educational and I find your info as useful and concise as the lads from the duran.
Regarding the mic. Dont be too hard on the mic. I was observing during your presentation. The problem is you are too close to the mic and speaking directly into it thus the impacts from your breath are impacting harshly on the pickup. If you offset the mic a little from your mouth so you are not speaking directly into it would probably help. Or you could also sit back a small bit and turn the gain up on your mic would also help. I am not sure what system you are using but if you had a meter you would get a visual on when you are clipping the audio. Nothing better than instant feedback on what your mic is hearing.
Regards
Jimmy
Mr. Dreizen, Can you please explain to me, an older woman, lacking knowledge of military materiel, how new howitzers from the west are getting to the Ukraine army in the East– over what supply lines which I though Russians had controlled– and what the effect of these artillery has been (if any) on Russian advance or what can be expected in the future. Do such weapons require a change in Russian military policy as Scott Ritter has opined? Thank you.
Great info, I had no idea of their history, sounds very similar transition of Brown Shirts to the Waffen SS and being separate to the rest of the regular army. Weird the Nordic connection. I believe their were Youth Movements similar to Hitler Jugend, so the recruitment of dumb innocent young men to a fruitless cause was easy, with indoctrination and the team-belonging to a brotherhood. I think the same exists in USA, its called BLM and ANTIFA. And isnt ANTIFA an organization that started in German POW camps/Gulags. Again we see the same polarization’s and again the same result, young men sucked in to a result they never expected or dreamt of, POW of dead. Your mike I couldnt give a shit, the info was important. Thanks for your insight, Shame on the Media coverage. Now the truth has to be searched for in Citizen media. Cheers for the Video, Its a 10.
Well we should see a reduction in the morale, so a good boost to the Russian and DPR, and hopefully the Ukranian army seeing the news can work out an exit strategy that doesnt involve dying in a fox hole for an A hole.
HAHAHAH. I like your rhyme!!!
Audio takes more effort than video. You will need the free program called Audacity in order to compress and normalize your audio. You are also too close to your microphone which is causing pops and distortion. About hardware, I use the Yamaha AG03 USB mixer with a condenser microphone. But a good USB mic might do the trick. In addition, you will need to learn how to use the stuff, but once you do, all your audio issues will forever be solved.
Thank you. That is an important and fairly comprehensive explanation of who these guys are. Now I want to find out who else was/is with them in Azovstal.
Great analysis, your mike is fine, your mouth gets to close to it at times, keep 6 inches away you’ll be fine.
Lots of information about Azov, but no attempt to clarify whether this capitulation frees up troops for either Donbass or Odessa fronts, or whether such troop movements have already taken place.
No attempt, LOL. I have a day job, business, blog, bunch of needy kids, and I stayed up very late (as usual) to do this 23-minute video for you. Can we take it one topic at a time? How about you critique what’s actually in the video.
Jacbb, your children may not truly appreciate what an exceptional man you are now , but certainly will realise your contribution to world history in years to come. I am a 70+ Australian grandmother and have been watching the horrors in Ukraine unfold since 2014 when ordinary women in their brightly coloured clothes and shoppining bags lay in gutters in the Donbass with their heads blown off. Then there was the “Russian” downing of MH17 … yeah right …. and the Odesssa Trade Halll massacre all of which were used to blame and demonise Russia. I have always believed that Vladimir Putin is one of the world’s greatest leaders if not the greatest as he has worked tirelessly to rid the world of monsters such as ISIS and now Azov. Your work in bringing truth and explaining history is truly inspirational … bet your parents are so proud of you just as your own young family must be. May God truly bless you
Very kind words, thank you.
Do you have a foam on that mic? Hard to tell from here. Also if you back up from mic, another 18″, it shouldn’t pick up as much static from that mic.
Like a more famous commentator on the Internet, an excellent man in London, I confess that I am not any kind of military expert. That said, I cannot believe that the Russians, who now enjoy control of the air over Ukraine, cannot eliminate NATO supplies and supply lines to the Kiev government. I am surprised to see that Scott Ritter thinks Moscow isn’t [1] aware of what Washington and the EU are up to, and [2] that he doesn’t think the Russian air force is capable of destroying Ukrainian infrastructure as well as degrading the Ukrainian army to the point where, regardless, of its weapons, it is incapable of mounting a significant military effort. What do you think, Jacob?
good information enjoying your channel
Excellent report, and thanks from this Canuck. Keep up the good work
In the US, the Azov is called the Rise Above Movement. They can actually be found in a number of countries, they are not just confined to Ukraine.
Disregard the name of the website here. But note that Congress had initially intended to remove funding to the Azov in 2016, but then quietly changed their minds: https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2016/02/01/azov-f01.html
A good summary of what they are about!!
To close to the microphone. Was very hard to listen.
Great report again, I knew history of Azov, but most Americans have no clue, you are very accurate. Russia did not smoke out Azov steel plant probably because there is somebody or something russia needs. Good strategy to release wounded, who will be interrogated for intelligence information. It would be great if you and scott rotter do a program together on Duran.
Thanks for the perspective and commentary! Valuable info.
could it have been intentional that Zelensky did not send rescue to Azov in Mariupol to get rid of them and at the same time turn them in heroes (posthumously), sacrificial lambs?
The gas/oil for rubles seems to leave Gazprombank with a lot of euros. What can it buy with them? If the US sanctions Gazprombank wouldn’t those euros be immediately frozen? And wouldn’t that kill the gas for rubles scheme? Wouldn’t that allow the US to unilaterally cut off Europe’s gas supply?
IIRC President Putin’s order specifies that Gazprombank must sell the euros on the Moscow exchange. My guess is the buyer(s) will also have euro accounts at Gazprombank, turning it into a sort of shadow ECB for Russia and its friendly trading partners: the euros can move around freely and untraceably inside “Russiazone” provided they ultimately stay in accounts at Gazprombank (or other sanctions-proof Russian banks, if there are any). I’d imagine they could also be used as collateral for ruble loans, if the Russian central bank allows it.
the video player put out very low volume even with a headset I couldn’t hear it
what percentage of the Ukrainian population supports the azov etc
Jacob, many thanks, I thought I knew a lot about Ukrainian neo-Nazis but you proved me to be wrong. I thought many times about so many parallels with Germany in the 30s. and one of them is ‘restoring order’ in the society. -When Ukraine was falling apart in so many ways, and the authorities failed to maintain order in the streets and public places, these people (let’s call them Azov people for brevity) proved quite useful in introducing order and controlling streets and public places and won support of the public. They were controlling streets and would sometimes smash small businesses for some minor misdemeanours or stop people from drinking alcohol in public places. I understood that that was how Kolomoisky found them useful – his factories were looted all the time – so he hired Azov people as security guards.
And I am sure you are aware of the fact that they intimidated Zelensky who tried to come true on his election promise and stop the war in Donbass. They publicly humiliated him and then threatened to hang him on the first tree in Крещатик.
Once again – a brilliant video, very informative, with so many facts I did not know about.
Just amazing that no one among the pro Ukraine/Zelensky crowd can ever articulate what it is they so vehemently dislike about Putin’s wish list. A neutral Ukraine, a la Austria, is a terrible thing? Denazification is just a horror? Demilitarization of a corrupt, mafia-ridden starte is a bad idea? Russian-speaking minorities should have equal rights to speak their native language is a reprehensible concept? The Ukrainians I know want Putin’s wish list, or at least most of it. Slava Rossii
Great info as always. Mic needs a wind cover. To make the videos perfect you will need to learn to look at the camera and not at the screen. It would be like aiming at 12 o’clock at the horizon. Your website is amazing, I can not detect a single gram of BS in anything you published so far: congrats on that and keep up the good work.
Jacob, a great, informative video. But why are you mischaracterizing the recent events as “surrender”??? If you followed the news, you would have known that this has been the “evacuation operation… through humanitarian corridors… planned and launched by the Ukrainian armed forces, military intelligence, national guard, border guards, security service, national police and the Azov Regiment,” albeit subcontracted to the RU invaders and DPR separatist, and to the DPR-controlled territory.
LOL!!!
They surrendered. Kiev and the Western media are trying to spin it as an evacuation. This would be like Germany saying the the 6th Army was evacuated to Siberia during World War II. Thus the, LOL. 🙂
I didn’t pick up on the sarcasm. Apologies, lol.
Das Reich SS division were responsible for the worst massacre in occupied France at Oradure sur Glane. An entire small town, men, women and children were massacred, old and young. I’ll spare you the details. Anyone who idealizes such people are the lowest of the low.
What a great show! I remember reading that ADL (Anti-Defamation League) said that “the asovs are not nazi nazis” ? and that “Ukraine´s neo-nazis are the good type of neo-nazis because they´re funded and armed by Israeli billionaires” !!! About your microphone ! a pop-filter might do wonders. Keep up your great work! oh forgot a topic: warsaw pact.2 obviously without Polen but who will join?
Please back of from the microphone a bit, so that we don’t get all those nasty wind noises. thank you for your work!
At about minute 4:50 you begin talking about the rebels in the Donbas. I am confused who these rebels were and why they were rebelling. My understanding until now is that the Russian population in the Donbas were unhappy with the Maidan Coup. Could you be clearer on this point?
Your content is valuable and presentation is fine. As a professional broadcaster I have two suggestions: with this or any microphone, maintain a distance of at least a foot from your mouth, to avoid “popping” Ps, etc., and avoid the phrase “you know.” We don’t; that’s why we listen.
As bad as Azov neo-Nazis are, there are worse. Worse are Washington DG (District of Grift) scum who’ve been supporting Ukraine scum to fulfill their Russophobic pathology.
An outstanding overview — measured, balanced, crisp — THANK you !!
Russia officially canceled its membership in the EU Geneve convention on March 15, 2022.
Great report. Thank you!
Great analysis! Impressive and informative summary on the inception and operation of these Azov guys. There are certainly parallels between these Azov nazis and the SS of Nazi Germany. What’s the lowdown on these foreign mercenaries that were down there in the bowels of Azovstal with these Ukrainian nazi holdouts?
Has anyone else seen the Reuters war tweet with the pic of Ukrainians armed with paintball guns? Congress should be told NATO stocks of emulsion are seriously depleted.
I wouldn’t rule out some writer at Reuters slyly trolling the Ukrainians. Reuters has been known to have a sense of humor now and then. For example, a few years ago there was an article on an American professional foot race where the two principal contenders had surnames Gay and Dix. And the headline at Reuters read (you can Google it, if you doubt it): “Tired Gay Succumbs to Dix.”
I was also directed here by the excellent Duran guys, and certainly have not been disappointed. The mic thing doesn’t bother me – I’m amazed that people quibble about silly things like that. Content is all, and yours is excellent. As for ideas for future podcasts, could you maybe do something about the history of the different regions of Ukraine, that would help your audience to understand their divergent allegiances? A podcast on the contradictory history of Galicia would be particularly helpful.
In addition to the other suggestions, I offer the following:
– consider using a backdrop drape (perhaps with a logo?)
– consider a video (or post) telling us more about your background/experience
– consider using more images and/or videos to highlight the topics under discussion.
Thanks for great information. And best theme music on the Web!
Tech problems may be a “quibble,” but I for one would like to see Mr. Dreizen’s face head-on. Looking straight into the camera lens to give a feeling of having eye contact. I think that might positively affect new viewers. Regarding the mic, perhaps it is a bit too close.
Also, I am curious as to Mr. Dreizen’s background—is he a student of Russian/Ukrainian history? Does he speak Ukrainian?
Yes.
You missed the bit where John Conyers tried to defund the Azov. He introduced an amendment to the 2015 appropriations bill to Ukraine, naming them specifically as they were as he quite plainly stated, Neo-Nazis. This amendment was initially passed by the house, but it was removed after the pentagon strenuously objected at the urging of…Joe Biden. Funding and training by both US and Canadian special forces, continued ever since.
Re the mic, and future topics: I for one would love to hear you talk about how President Putin picked a peck of pickled peppers 😉
What a bold and ingenious Azov victory, advancing deep into Russia in vehicles marked Z. Unarmed combat at its finest.
LOL!!!
Topic suggestion #4: How is it that the Russians can muster such a advanced and effective arsenal of weaponry with such a puny defense budget of (give or take) $50-$60 billion dollars annually while we Americans can pour close to $1 trillion dollars annually into a defense budget and get crap for modern weapons that barely work at best. How can this be?
It’s elementary, man, it’s elementary! The US military industry is a private company run by former Pentagon officials to which current Pentagon officials aspire. For one dollar of research (financed by the US budget), private companies charge $5-10 per metal product, plus another 100-1000% as profit for the company. The budget pays. Or rather, all this is paid by the American taxpayer!
In Russia, all military companies belong to the state! This means that all weapons in Russia are paid only in the form of wages to workers, engineers and designers. All the raw materials and materials from which weapons are produced are also produced locally. Russia does not need to buy titanium on world markets at market price, and aluminum, and steel, and tungsten, and nickel, etc. – all this is produced in Russia. And all this costs the Russian government…. Right, only for the salaries of workers, miners and metallurgists. Logistics – all of Russia’s railways are also state-owned – again all for the salaries of railway workers! Now, let’s look at the Russian paycheck – and you can only cry about how much deadly shit Russia can produce for $1000.
In total, it turns out that a $300 civilian coffee pot costs the Pentagon $1500, and for the Russian army 132.37594 USD
I once heard of a revision made of Pentagon accounts and one example of findings was billing of a simple wrench for which was paid 1000 USD (or thereabout)
Let’s not forget how much was spend on a pen that had to work in space and Russia used a pencil. Simplicity man .
Yep, interesting
https://infobrics.org/post/34028/
“Although Avakov ultimately resigned in July, it was under him that Far-Right militias, including the neo-Nazi Azov Battalion, came under the control of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Andriy Biletsky, a founder of the Azov Battalion, is a close associate of Avakov. Biletsky also co-founded the neo-Nazi Social-National Assembly movement.
Denys Monastyrsky is now the Minister of Internal Affairs but is being labelled as “Avakov’s man” because of his known connections to those within his network. Effectively, Zelensky replaced Avakov – whose son Oleksandr participated in the 2014 Siege of Slaviansk, with one of his lackey’s who will continue to serve his personal interest.” (Side-note: one of those pre-Feb. 24 back-in-the-day articles when quoting U.S. based CATO Institute condemning Zelensky’s authoritarian Presidency was still fashionable.)
The Neo-Nazis legacy continued after Avakov resigned.
Dreizin, great report. Many thanks.
I din’t do videos. Ir would be good if you also included text. If you go to all video then I guess I’ll be gone.
Great!!!
your mic skills need work because you are constantly “pffting” into he mic. Sounds like you are spitting into it. Can you not hear it? Very distracting.
You get what you pay for!!! 🙂
RE20 (or similar) + Shure X2U (or equivalent)
10-12″ away from lips will avoid plosives (puffs of air) is fine in a quiet room, also difference between 10-12″ away than 2-3″ away is WAY more stable/consistent volume overall, the level picked up by the mic is not linear it’s parabolic relative to distance from the source
Great video – getting microphones right is always super tricky but the content is what counts.
I had not previously heard the history of how Azoz and the other nationalist militias got going explained so clearly. The precise parallels to The Third Reich had not been so obvious to me either. Scary that Uncle Sam, John Bull and company have fomented all this.
Even scarier maybe that our corporate media is so propagandized that it ignores this and instead even presents the surrender as an evacuation. I do not see a parallel with Dunkirk but I am sure someone in the UK media will seek to spin one. Like you, I resent paying them $ though to find out!
In terms of future topics:
1. Likely impact of western weapons on the situation, which I guess is linked with there being remaining Ukrainians who want to fight;
2. Wider geopolitical ramifications such as whether Finland / Sweden simply joining NATO matters much, or what would matter after they join;
2. Lessons on how modern war will be waged in future, given that this feels like a campaign between two comparably enemies equipped with modern kit and similar approaches to not wanting to die. In some ways this is metaphorically WW1 to the colonial style campaigns that the west has waged pretty much since Korea.
Thanks, yes, this is not a colonial bug-hunt. Americans (who have not fought a real war in forever) don’t appreciate this.
Jacob….you videos are very informative and I like all of them and I couldnt suggest you do anything better…You are great and highly recommended by the Duran….Thanks
are there any sane ukrainians asking major questions about the future of the economy, politics, final size of ukraine? Or, do the ruling elites only react to stuff day by day.Ukraine cannot win. So, what happens, when they lose access to the Black Sea???
Great question. There are plenty of sane people in the Ukraine. They are not allowed to speak.
Well they listen to the same stuff as we. They will win, Russians r utterly stupid. General this is dead, oh he is alive. Russian economy sucks… oh we suck harder. Time will tell, but in the end I bet, EU will beg Russia to take them to not have to do what they promised, cos that is economical nonsense and volodimir the first and last, will most likely take the last plane to London, where his half a billion Dollar wait for him, he earned in last few years.
Great video, thanks for some new insights on Azov. Can I beg to differ on your quoting “History never repeats, but it rhymes”? At least with respect to this particular conflict?
The commonality of all the great books written about Stalingrad (from both perspectives), set against what is happening in any of the “cauldons” created by the Russians today? Rinse and repeat of that same old tried and trusted Zhukov playbook. I mean, FFS, we even have (albeit misguided) cannibalism, and a “Steelworks”…
Seriously though, one fundamental difference? As I recall, every one of the estimated 400k Germans eventually lost/captured was, upon initially entering that city (before it all went tits up for Pauli), equipped with the best footwear and overcoat the Wehrmacht could reasonably supply en masse. Or at least they did when they left boot camp. Whereas these poor bastard middle-aged Ukrainian draftees, after bugger all training, are being captured found kitted out in trainers and a permanently sodden woollen jumper.
All those billions in (antiquated) weapons Nato are shipping east? What price at minimum a pair of Gortex boots and overcoat for each of these sacrificial sods? The least they could do. If they had souls.
I’d love to hear your thoughts/opinions on that last, Jacob. Throwing these poor conscripted bastards into a certain meat-grinder with half a clip of ammo and abject shite gear? And without a decent bloody sleeping bag? Is to my mind one of the most unconscionable actions of this conflict. And I’m talking Nato here – because I reckon even their Russian counterparts wouldn’t begrudge these poor guys this “noth-lethal”, but not so sexy (in the media) equipment being supplied from the west. Maybe, it’s just not something there is any profit in for the MIC?
Apologies for the verbal diarrhea (this one really pisses me off) I mentioned great books above, but if anyone feels in the mood to spend a few hours get some idea what the aforementioned poor bastards are experiencing about now, I would highly recommend Heinrich Gerlach’s autobiographic-based novel, Breakout at Stalingrad. There are so many parallels at a granular level…
Again the western fake media is blatantly lying:
After eight years, the defeat of the AzovNazis in Mariopol is final and can not be admitted by the “collective west” deceptive narrative. The ethnic Russian speaking population in the Ukraine will never be able to live with the UkroNazi nationalists peacefully, they will be killed if Russia leaves, so Russia has to stay and likely annex the entire ethnic Russian part of the Ukraine.
Azov is done, the Ukraine is done and finished. Russia is winning.
Something that is interesting is the apparently coordinated protest efforts of Ukrainians around the world with flags, blood, blocking traffic, etc. For example – I never saw anyone with a Yemenese flag protesting anything. I’m suspecting some central coordination versus spontaneous.
It would be great if you could comment on the alleged capture of the American 4-star Navy Seal Admiral (Ret.), Eric Olson. Kinda looked like it might be him. Any word on how many other Pentagon and NATO brass have gotten caught in the cauldrons? Thanks for your report today!
Technology is good for me. Spend money on beer and family, not tech.
Are refugees/migrants moving into an enemies’ country (Europe currently for example) a deliberate tactic, or just happenstance?
To add: How are the European governments propagandizing and dealing with the violent acts by Ukrainian refugees, that continue to find their way into media reports?
Best analysis on the structuring of Ukraine forces and most importantly a great description of how a minority can develop into a powerful entity if left unchecked. Suggestion, implications of this conflict for Moldova.
Hey Jacob! Terrific job! You are one of those Americans that are the reason why the world admired the United States. Unfortunately, the US has been overrun by crooked people. Respect to you for the courage to fight for what is right. As for a topic suggestion. I feel that talking about how diplomacy failed during these last eight years specially is paramount but maybe there are even key moments before the Euromaidan coup. Who is responsible for the failed attempts to reach any agreements, for example on Minsk 1 and 2 treaties. Who are the biggest beneficiaries of the whole situation and things like this. For me, it seems that Europe has a big part for it’s omission in trying to mediate peace. What was Europe planning to gain from Ukraine? Is Russia responsible for arming the rebels? Is it true that the United states has been funding Neo Nazis in Ukraine since the end of WW2? Thank you very much!
Excellent coverage- many thanks
Excellent report. I didn’t realise the similarities between the SS and the far right of Ukraine in terms of their political basis and strength. Thank you, quite the eye opener. Given that the current Ukrainian far right’s political and murderous forbears in the Bandera era were out and out psychopaths who conducted monstrous genocides during WW2 – 200K Poles, 300K Jews – it doesn’t surprise me that their current day descendants have behaved in a similar fashion if we are to believe what various observers have described. More power to the Russians as far as I am concerned. The only aspect that I wonder is what country in their right mind would wish to incorporate a populous with that attitude as some are suggesting; for example Poland incorporating those lands centred around Lviv – the west of current day Ukraine? And how on God’s green earth can that collective attitude be softened given the length of time that it has festered in that region?
Excellent overview on this Azov file many thanks! This is very much a developing drama and I really hope that the clean up operation may prepare the ground for a kind of normal life in the Russian speaking areas of the Ukraine. Great work you are doing for us stand-byers. Thanks!
Yet another insightful and well researched posting. Thank you! That some uninformed people claim that the Nazi-legacy thing in Ukraine is overblown is a quite unbelievably dangerous reality in the West. They walk blindfolded into a minefield, for Europe most prominently and by welcoming Ukrainians of all kinds (including those with a Nazi mentality, for the USA also).
The Nagorno Karabakh War saw the large scale introduction of robotic aerial systems. Casualty rates were unbearable for the Russian-equipped Armenians. The Russo Ukraine War teaches us more about the fundamental change to warfare caused by smart weapons, along with saturation surveillance and targeting by drones. Tanks are sitting ducks. Maneuver warfare disappears. Well directed artillery rules the battlefield and immobilizes the front. Casualty rates are so high that neither side begins to report them. Robotic warfare creates a meat grinder. Both regimes need to be at the negotiating table soon, or each will be at risk of being evicted from office.
What is your take on Scott Ritter’s reversal? The following is an excerpt of his latest statements on the situation in the Ukraine:
Scott Ritter (start at 47:50 minute mark) — “The thing that frustrates me… is that, it was my assessment that it would be very hard for Ukraine to absorb this new equipment and material (Material– the additional lethal weapons that have recently been shipped to Ukraine) but the howitzers are already operating against Russia. (And) They are having an effect in the Kharkov region. Not all 90 of them, but they have several batteries in place that are being used.
How did this happen?
And this is why I have radically changed my overall assessment, because I had been operating on the assumption that Russia would be able to interdict the vast majority of this equipment, but Russia has shown itself unable or unwilling to do this and– as a result– the Ukrainians are having meaningful impact on the battlefield. Not in the areas of main contention, like the Donbass, but on the periphery. This is why Russia has carried out tactical withdrawals north of Kharkov, because in order to match Ukraine’s best capabilities, Russia would have to divert resources from its main effort which Russia has decided not to do. So, they are re-configuring the battlefield. (trading land in different areas)…(“Saturday Morning Live with Scott Ritter and Ray McGovern, You Tube)
Fuel. Talk about fuel.
Without fuel, nobody moves and supposedly the Russians have taken out the three primary refineries and are working on the Odessa entry point for foreign gas with both storage tanks and bridges being hit. Great (disinformational leveraging) hay has been made in the MSM about how close the Ukrainians are to running out of gas. How diesel is essentially no longer available. And how Ukrainians are down to 1-2 liters per vehicle in purchasing gas. Then you see video of these Azov guys sitting in CONVOYS of buses, apparently pulled right up to the plant gates.
Fuel, far more than indirect fire, is what makes maneuver warfare possible. Or not.
Also, artillery.
Without extended range BB or guided rounds, the 155mm is only good for about 19km/10mi. With so much of the Russian MRLs outranging this by double, why are these towed tubes not being completely routed, within 3 minutes, when it takes a _good crew_ about 6 minutes to put them into battery and 10 minutes to pull them out?
Do they not have firefinder radar?
Finally, talk about missiles and GLONASS.
It appears that Russian cruise weapons can’t hit the broad side of a barn, their version of GPS is being seriously messed with and as a result, they are doing most Kalibr and Kh-101 strikes with some form of target locator beacon. How does that work and can it be emplaced via UAV?
LOL, the buses for the Azov are Russian. Russian buses, Russian gas. Straight to the POW camps.
Topic suggestion #3: The latest reversal of Scott Ritter’s take on the Ukraine war and Russia ability to prevail has caused quite a stir in the online war analysis community. What is your take on Ritter’s reversal on Russia’s ability to win if the West keeps pumping billions into the war and the meat grinder effect eventually bleeds Russia white.
The microphone is fine. I’m not here for high-fidelity audio quality. I’m impressed by the level of detail you bring to your videos.
Alexander Mercouris speaks highly of your analysis, so I decided to check it out. Good work.
I have read in a pro-Ukrainian site posted on YouTube that the Ukrainians are using US-provided howitzers to great effect, especially around Kharkov. This is after I have read in pro-Russian sites that the avenues by which these artillery could be brought to the battle have been destroyed. Can you offer your opinion why there is a difference?
Topic suggestion #2: For the Left to hold power over the country going into the fall elections, what are the chances that they will stage an “Event”, a false flag event, a national “emergency” that will steer/manipulate the election their way. Since the polls are clearly lopsided against the Democrats, they would need to conjure an emergency in order to remain in power.
They’ve already done this: the leak of the upcoming SCOTUS ruling on abortion. And given how often the cops shoot people in America don’t be surprised to see more race rioting this summer.
The ultimate false flag would be for an op to dose Biden’s ice cream with Novichock and blame it on Moscow.
Those two provocations you pointed out don’t seem to do the trick. The response to SCOTUS leak was tepid at best. The Left/Democrats have lost some of their mojo on the riot track because no real violence resulted from the leaks in any sizable and significant way. The “police shootings” and “race bait wars” – most of the public have already caught onto that flimsy baiting. It will take a much larger “911” or Oklahoma City bombing type event to get the marital law cries into high gear.
I dunno… Multiple churches were attacked including The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. Huge rally in Los Angeles yesterday, even though there is zero chance of criminalizing abortion in California.
It’s true, most of the public is not falling for this race baiting nonsense. I also think that doesn’t matter. There’s more than enough to form a violent mob.
Production quality tips:
1. Better mic obviously, as well as a mic stand so you can pull it up to your face
2. With a good mic stand, you can sit up straight instead of leaning in hunched over
3. 1080p quality looks a lot better than 720p
4. The camera is not focusing on your face very well, I think the shelves behind you are more in focus, which might require a better camera
5. Lifting the camera up higher to eye level would also help to sit up straight, with a stand or just some books under your monitor/laptop
The content is great, more of the same!
You asked for a topic suggestion. Here is one. There is growing evidence from scientists, doctors, researchers, etc. that the Covid injections are producing a growing number of serious injuries, chronic illnesses, life threatening diseases like stage 4 cancers, systemic clotting, strokes, and deaths etc among the nearly 6 billion human beings who have been jabbed. In America alone there is an estimated 160 million Americans who have been given a genetic therapy shot without full authorized FDA approval, without any relevant safety data, and now we are seeing a 60%+ increase in all cause mortality from the insurance companies. Governments and mass media and the medical establishment all over the world have operated in “lockstep” imposing a draconian set of behavioral norms for society and the consequences have been profoundly damaging economically, socially, psychologically. What are the political consequences for the nation and the world if these injuries continue to grow exponentially over the coming months and years?
Those excess deaths are from Covid-19 or Covid-19 triggered diseases. The report does not include any mention of the vaccine causing excess deaths.
You are misinformed. The “vaccine” which is a potentially lethal genetic “therapy” cocktail is the documented cause of millions of serious injuries and hundreds of thousands of deaths in the U.S. alone. Even Phizer, J&J, and the others have been forced to disclose the hundreds of severe adverse reactions to the shot through a federal court order. So, you get up to speed about the growing catastrophe of these “vaccines” which Bill Gates, the Chinese military, our own Pentagon helped develop for the ultimate global depopulation agenda. Look up the discoverer of MRNA vaccine technology, Dr. Malone and see what he has to say about these lethal shots.
Folks, enough arguing the vakk-seenz on this Azov post. There will be a time for it. Thanks.
Buy a better microphone. Other than that though, you provide very useful and insightful information to understand this conflict.
I wonder if you could do a piece on the potential false flags that the collective west has raised against Russia before this war started? What does the independant evidence suggest? I was thinking of MH17, the Skripals, Trumpgate, etc.
Thanks for your great reports
Video Request: Can you analyse how the US would have approached and performed if it were against Ukraine? Perhaps even consider a scenario where for example Ukraine bordered the US so its apples with apples. Thanks. Marcus.
Good Morning from Thailand. Great report.
whoa, what are you doing at a place such as this? All expats must hang out in the usual forums provided, and write with head in ass.
Thaiger and Aseannow forum moderators ban anybody who says Russia maybe winning the battle or holds a positive pro Putin message. Ask me how I know. Its like selective banning. Same holds true if mentioning the vax is not a vax.
I’ve watched your videos on The Duran, but when I watch directly on the website it freezes after 8 seconds. A backup alternative on Rumble or Bitchute would be nice.
