Following the details of Trump’s legal problems is POINTLESS.
At least, on the Federal and Georgia side.
My Old-World babysitter knows this better than most Americans, because she told me, these aren’t “real” prosecutions, it’s just the two sides dancing, measuring up against each other.
Not bad, for someone who doesn’t watch American news and doesn’t even care.
Well, if you care…..
I can tell you all you need to know in 476 words.
Here goes:
The persecutors are in a tough spot.
They failed to stem the Trump comeback.
If there’s a Republican nomination, Trump will be the nominee.
But they can’t drop the charges now—they’d look like fools.
At the same time, they can’t persecute Trump quickly.
If they try to “railroad” him, it will go to the Supreme Court, and not only would he win there (on some question of process), but the Court might simply toss out the charges entirely (at least, the ones about “overturning the election.”)
So, they have to take it really slow. Which they’re doing.
They’re taking it so slow…..
…..that they pushed out the trials into simply ABSURD time-frames.
At least one of the two Federal trials, is scheduled to start (again, only START) near the peak of “primary season”, in late February or sometime around then.
The Georgia trial is scheduled to start in August, AFTER the Republican national convention.
It’s OBVIOUS these trials won’t happen as scheduled, or, won’t conclude in speedy fashion… or at all.
It’s OBVIOUS they just wanted Trump to go away; they never REALLY intended to convict him. They planned to intimidate him, then to cut some deal, get him to write an apology letter, agree not to run again, maybe pay a fine, whatever.
That way, he’s broken, and his screaming fans give up on him.
Didn’t happen.
He simply called their bluff.
(Knowing Trump, was this a surprise? LOL.)
If the goal was to jail him, why is he walking around free, today, pending trial? Such a dangerous man! Facing well over 600 years in prison, if convicted on all Federal counts! Longer than some serial killers, LOL.
Folks, any dry technicalities aside, there’s AN OBVIOUS REASON why the New York trial moved MUCH faster than the others.
The New York trial is, of course, about taking away his business, his assets.
But, why?
Well, sure, because a certain New York politician got elected on smashing Trump.
But, bigger picture…..
They get to cut him down to size, without having to jail him.
This is common practice in “soft” authoritarian states.
Why jail the opposition, when you can simply bankrupt its leader(s), or take away their means of funding their own campaigns, or send a strong message that this is ONLY step 1, and step 2 (if it gets to that) will be WORSE?
The intent: Break them without jailing them. Much cleaner!!!
The circumstances and techniques differ across countries, but the intent is always the same.
Now you know why the New York trial IS moving, and the other trials ARE NOT… and probably never will.
The former was HYPER-expedited; the latter have been comically delayed. Did “they” have to actually talk to each other, to work this out? No, that’s not how things work in America. It’s more diffuse.
Things are done through signaling in the Democrat media. You can coordinate without coordinating. They got this down to an art form during Trump’s presidency.
